Does it have many pubs? is it a decent place to drink?

Obviously i'm not expecting the sort of thing you see on those 'night cops' type programs or strip clubs and the like but just wondering about the pub scene there?!?

Im heading up there for the weekend in february as a group of 5 guys. Will be interested to see what people say here.....

We will def be after a beer session after a day riding Whinlattter/Borrowdale Bash rather than a night on the tiles.

Loads of pubs in the town. We spent lots of time in the pie pub. I think it's called the George. I really liked Keswick.

whats wrong with everyone knowing each other - think I lost a Kona rep I was meant to be looking after in there........If anyone finds him...

Good for drinking in great pubs, some good food to be had

then go to the club only after enough beer

there's loads of pubs - you'll be fine. I went on a stag do there which was ace - real ales, beers sessions culminating in a few whiskies.

Dog and Gun for Hungarian Goulash - that's a must. Good beer two, and enough pubs to keep you happy.
'The Loft' nightclub...mmm...not the best. We visited during our C2C trip a couple of years back, and it's a bit grim. But the lass we all tried to chat up, laughably, was our waitress at breakfast the next morning at the hotel.

As a lad , we would get the bus through and do a crawl around Keswick ,
used to be a good crack -until the (younger)locals found out where we were from! ๐Ÿ˜€
Cockermouth is also good for an evening out.

As mentioned, the Dog and Gun and The George are good for food and beer - Square Orange for ale, pizza, tapas. The Lakes Bistro and Morrells are good for food - three curry houses, two chinese, and one thai, all pretty similar standard. Chippies in town are pretty rubbish - Bank Street's usually the best though. Pubs to avoid: the Queens Back Bar and Casa's.

Also as mentioned, there's one club. If you're looking to settle down with an attractive local lass who's still got most of her own teeth, then 1 a.m. outside The Loft is the place be.
