I love my van, best vehicle I've had yet...

In particular, I love the bins in the front doors, so useful! Plus getting from front to back without getting out or having to fold oneself up

Another Passat estate. Pretty basic by modern standards but flash enough for me. Reasonably priced second hand, comfortable, economical and an aircraft hangar behind the rear seats. I could happily have gone for something smaller but one of the requirements was fitting a hard cello case in out of sight (not mine).

Golf R - It has a button to make it noisy, and revvy and extra grippy what not, and on the rare occasions I get go to use even 10% of the performance it makes me smile lots.

Love my reversing camera. Never thought I wanted or needed one, couldn’t live without it now. It’s turned me into a parking God 🤣

Beringo (old, old shape).

Its f****** huge inside. And (literally) on top of that is a full length sun roof! It's car sized on the outside but I can get up from the drivers seat and walk arround!

It only cost £650*.

Not the spirit of the thread but the cup holders are rubbish. Truly rubbish. The one at the back is narrow/tight, the ones at the front are in a little well together so if you use one the cup sits at an angle, and two can't be done.

*and by the end of tomorrow it will have already paid for itself in super comfortable motorway 45p/miles.

Mazda 3 for me.
not stupidly powerful but got a good enough chassis that means I can play a bit without travelling at death speeds.
I love the hud and will be sad if I ever have to get a vehicle without.

Best of both worlds, electric for around town, petrol for everything else. Oh and 8 speed ZF gearbox

Golf R – It has a button to make it noisy, and revvy and extra grippy what not,

You do realise the noise is artificial played through the speakers

It’s tiny and so easy to park.
It’s simple so less to go wrong.
It’s quite nippy.
It doesn’t cost much to run.
It can find 2 bikes in.

10 year old Nissan Micra.

Still looks smart when clean but is actually pretty banged up if you look closely, so I'm not precious about it. Lovely auto box, everything still works. 174bhp of turbo diesel power in a hatchback means I can overtake with ease and safety on rural A and B roads.

Honestly I bloody love mine, except for the autobox but that's fixable. Makes a nice noise, goes fast when I want it to, but also just a nice place to be and can bimble when I want to bimble. Cheap to tax, not too bad to insure, not even too bad to fuel with the LPG though it bloody drinks premium petrol when I let it. Not quite big enough to effortlessly swallow bikes like a van or my old Mondeo but still, big enough, and it doesn't <feel> big. And generally in amazing nick for 16 years old on account of it's not been ruined by scottish winters.

It'll be better still with the new map on it, and then the 6 speed out of my other one, and most importantly the HEATED BLOODY SEATS AWWWWWW YISSS

Sadly the new exhaust means it's no longer completely invisible to the police but it's still basically a grey old man's car with an STI hidden in it and that's like a super power.

It's a van.
There's nothing good about it apart from it was new. I try and keep it nice but it doesn't stop people not giving a shite about it and denting it with their doors in car parks.

When its cold outside and I set it to pre warm to 21 degrees and the heated seats to come on.

The headlights are immense on dark country roads.

It has 290hp, does 50mpg and isn’t a diesel.

New shape Berlingo.

Very Comfortable.
Individual armrests.
Unbelievably practical shape.
Lots of storage spaces.
Good quality stereo.
Rear seats and passenger seat fold flat.
Built in satnav (dont need to link with phone).
Low boot floor.
Sliding rear doors.
Cruise control.
No turbo lag like my last car.
Surprisingly good 3 cylinder engine.
Not a diesel.
Not anything to do with VW.

It has a button on the steering wheel to skip tracks on the SD cards.
2 x 16GB cards so lots of music choice.
Heated seats.
Heated mirrors.
Folding mirrors so I can see that I've locked it.
Parking sensors.
Hatchback + folding seats so I can do tip runs.
Flappy paddle DSG gearbox.
By most standards, pretty quick.
4wd and cross-climates so adequate in the snow.

Of course, but that’s perfect. It sounds reasonable in the cabin, whilst still sounding like the nice quiet 4-cylinder engine it is to everyone on the outside. You do get more (real) noise from the exhaust too, which I find pleasing. I can pretend to be racing driver whilst bimbling to nursery at 30mph.

Had my golf for all ten of it’s years, bar 2 months and still drive so well. Can get bikes in the back and no one will steal it. Low mileage, as only for long journeys. 1 year I did just 500 miles.

2010 Mondeo diesel 2.0 Titanium

Big, comfy, fast enough, quite good fun for a big long lump on B roads. Drop the seats and it takes a big bike with ease. I'd happily jump in and drive to France tomorrow or NW Scotland. Great car and very underrated

It drives exactly as I want it to. It still feels like a dream sometimes when there is a wee bit of open road and it just goes, perfectly!

No unexpected wheel spin, no shuddering, (mostly) no rattles or squeeks, no under steer, no unexpected oversteer, no pulling out of slip roads and wondering if I'm going to get rammed as in the last super slow car was super slow. It came with pre curbed alloys. Perfect as it ment I didn't have to fell bad when I curbed them.

It did catch fire a bit once and handed me a very large bill. I still haven't quite forgiven it for that.

Other than that

4.8s 0-60, 309hp and 50mpg. Not all at the same time 😀

It's too fast really, I'd be better with a slower cheaper one 99% of the time. I'm glad I've got it but I'll never buy something this fast in the future. It's wonder full for the 1%

Automatic lights & (I think) wipers
Automatic gearbox.
Comfy.
Heated seats.
Dual zone climate control operated by proper knobs, no fiddling with the infotainment system.
Airline trays on the back of the front seats.
Parking sensors front & rear.
Parking camera.
It’ll take 2 bags of cymbal stands, half a dozen microphone stands & a bag full of microphone cables without even having to move the cover over the boot area. Plus numerous drums from 8x8 up to 22x18 in the rear passenger area.
It’s £150/month less than the last one.
It’s not diesel.
Bright headlights (apologies to you in oncoming vehicles)
No leather to scorch your legs when you get in it wearing shorts in hot weather (ok there is some leather, but not where it’s going to burn)

Downsides:
No CD player so I’m going to have to rip a load of my CDs to iTunes
It’s not 4wd. Would have had to get a dirty diesel for that. But I can probably live with that, we don’t get that much snow
It’s still got an infernal combustion engine.

It’s electric.

It drove to Germany and back and went 160kmph (on the Autobahn - don’t flame me).

My mum argues with it about its chosen route. OK, that’s not actually good, but it is quite funny.

With the current car there is so much to like - I can honestly say I'd not change it for love or money right now.

It's ten years old and lacking in gadgets/electronic whizzy things (this is a good thing) but it so neatly fits what we need as a family right now, it's a lovely place to spend a long journey and it's paid for.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's pretty old school on emissions and I'm comforting myself that it's doing not very many miles due to lockdown. If I start consistently piling on the miles for work again it might have to go but for my Covid mileage it can stay for now.

Oh and my wife can't find Wave 105 on the radio 😁😁😁😁

Heated seats, steering wheel and windscreen
Sat nav showing between the dials on the digital dash
Has an app that reminds the wife where she parked, the app also tells me how much fuel is in it before getting in so I'm not surprised when she has left it on the fuel light for me....again.

2019 Berlingo Enterprise 100 XL.

It’s a van, but essential a large car so all the space benefits without the size disbenefits.
It’s a LGV so I have to drive slower and I find it’s actually a lot more relaxing and I’m not really in such a hurry anyways. Helps driving the A9 behind artics...
Ok, it’s babykiller diesel, but it gives up 50+ mpg as a matter of course. No mountains to cross and it’s 60.
Cruise control that goes up/down in 5mph shifts which makes the A9 easier to drive in the dualler/single carriageway sections and comfier too (feet free to move about).
Cab seats, higher up (easier to get in and out of in my old age) and plenty room.
The cab defrosts quicker as it’s half the volume of a car.
Self folding mirrors (which as already mentioned shows it’s locked).
Stalk for control of radio/music. iPod plugs in in the glovebox out of sight/the way.
Android auto means google maps on the 7” display panel when I need ‘satnav’.
The glove box can take a 15” laptop (out of sight) and the middle seat folds down with a swivel ‘table-top’ mobile office thing. Meant I can sit in a work car park piggybacking off the WiFi for meetings when needed. It’s a cab, there’s a bit more room, so kind of a mobile office...
There’s quite a lot of useful storage (overhead is nice, underseat ditto).
Proper sized steel rim wheels. Shitty Highland singletrack roads have battered the 15” alloys to buggery on my Roomster.
There’s two sliding doors, it’s like having a portable park bench with you everywhere you go. You can have a chipper supper without stinking up the place and there’s plenty lay down space for your drink, etc.
It’s long enough I can sleep in it if I fancy converting it.
Bike(s) go straight in the back no problem and it’s easy to clean out the detritus that accumulates from riding in the Cairngorms.
I’m a hombre camioneta blanco

But apart from that it’s absolute rubbish... 🤪

Makes it great fun to drive.

Volvo C30 1.6d Rdesigh;

+ Handsome thing, 50+mpg and £30 VED
- Gutless engine, cramped interior and small boot

VW Caddy 1.9TDI;

+ Refined for a van (despite me 'slamming' it) Can chuck all my work/bike crap in it with minimal fuss or care, Cheap to run, Earns me much more than it owes me, looks good (subjective thing I know)
- Its 13 y/0 now so Always chasing knocking noises and stupid ABS sensors, Always the nagging worry the engine will throw its rod sometime, its a modern VAG so ultimately boring to drive/own.

No it isn't.....Golf GTI's & R's are fitted with a Soundakator.
It's a mechanical resonance device mounted on the bulkhead below the wiper assembly.

Renault Scenic diesel something or other...

Things I like: it's comfortable for long distance drives, pretty good for fuel, powerful enough for motorway driving when fully laden, cruise control, automatic lights, climate control, electric parking brake. It's easy to get a bike in there with the front wheel off and one seat folded.

Minor irritations: the clutch is a bit heavy in traffic. The automatic wipers never seem to be at the speed I'd like. That's about it.

Overall: it's a dull family car, but it does its job and I'm quite happy with it.
