Autoimmune hemolytic anemia?

Best do an in-saline agglutination test I reckon, that'd help with the differentials...

Which bikes, bits of kit did or MTB trends did you rave about at the time but looking back groan inwardly about?

Conversely, which bikes, bits of kit or MTB trends do you look back upon and say "called it before anyone else!"

How do your original expectations for Singletrack stack up against how it's all played out? For example, did you expect the web site to be more or less vital to the operation than it's turned out to be?

I'll also second kcal's question about Shaun. In the early days he was the most visible of the staff on the web site so it's perhaps not surprising that us old farts (well I only hopped on board at issue 7, it's not like I was on Go Far or anything but these days that still probably qualifies me as an old fart) occasionally wonder if he's still about in any way.

How many productive hours per day do you lose to the STW forum?

Can you really, and I mean really, tell the difference between how 26" and 650b wheels roll?

How many kittens die each time a wheel size thread arises?

You are asked to see a 25-year-old white man who experienced marked weakness and dyspnea 4 days after being admitted for a compound arm fracture after falling from a tree. Estimated blood loss from the initial fracture episode was 600 mL, and the patient was transfused with one unit of packed erythrocytes. The initial cross match was reported as compatible by the transfusion service. The patient has never been transfused before this incident and has no other serious medical illnesses. The patient's arm fracture was treated with surgical pinning and prophylactic antibiotics consisting of cefotetan 2 g IV every 12 hours. On examination, the patient is febrile and mildly tachycardic, with no evidence of wound infection or compartment syndrome. Laboratory data show a hematocrit of 15%, absolute reticulocyte count of 600,000 รŽยผL, and total bilirubin of 70 umol/L with direct bilirubin of 9 umol/L. The peripheral smear shows many spherocytes. No hemoglobinemia or hemoglobinuria is seen on visual inspection of the plasma and urine. The transfusion service reports that the direct Coombs' test is now strongly positive using anti-IgG and only weakly positive with anti-C3d antisera. They further report that routine compatibility tests show no new erythrocyte antibodies in the patient's serum and that, when they attempted to elute antibody from the patient's RBCs and test against normal RBCs, the results were negative. What is the most likely diagnosis?

Please show your working.

I have a theory. I suspect Chipps and Mark encourage wheel size threads. Because the more kittens which get killed off the more hamsters they have to power the forum.

Could Chipps or Mark please comment on how the hamsters are doing?

It's not a question of which diagnosis is most likely (ie what is the most common diagnosis among those asked to diagnose the patient), it's a question of which is the most appropriate diagnosis. And the answer to that question is lupus, because this is real life.

So, what is it?

Does it please or disappoint you that this is no longer a pure MTB site and much more of a cycling/life advice centre?

What kit would you/have you spent your own money on?

If you had a straight choice between a Shimano group and a SRAM group would you choose XT or XTR?

Can a pie ever just have a puff pastry topping?

What log burner?

What watch?

Hurstwood trail.
Fun, accessible, well used by locals and visitors, quality build, links to established trails etc.

Where else in and around Calderdale would be suitable for and benefit from something similar?

Given your experience of the industry, attendance of trade shows and years of travel for the best MTBing on Earth... what was it that Meatloaf wouldn't do for love, and, would you do it?

Why would you shut a forum down? Industry economics point in exactly the opposite direction. Print is not where the strength/value lies in journalism - look at Top Gear's version (just for STW!)

Seriously - If you could undo any of the developments in riding in the last 15 years what would it be?

Unseriously - where's Shaun?
