I use RipIt - it has a new name now. Works really well, will copy anything. I use handbrake to compress/reformat.

I used Ripit (now dead) and handbrake to rip/convert all of my DVDs a few years ago. It took blummin ages.

If I was doing it all again today..... I wouldn't. I would just get a VPN for a month or two, and torrent the file in whatever resolution/file format I was looking for.

Assuming that you are only downloading copies of what you already own, I don't see a moral issue with this from a copyright infringement perspective.

I'd especially have no issue getting the films this way as I own the Bluray version anyway.

If you download a hdef film it is going to be 5-6GB if you convert a blueray it will be 15GB plus, I find that compression is noticeable, personally I would convert bluerays if I already had them. storage is cheap.
