VW Audi Group? Trust it won't fall apart too fast (we've had a few bad experiences with my wife's work cars. Also my boss has had a few bad experiences. All Audis rather than VWs to be fair)
Thats good. Nothing wrong with the car but it just looks like a Golf with odd wheels to me.
Make sure that the dealership fits a new number plate.
Nice car, be careful with those alloys though.
I had a red 07 one from new for about 40k miles in 2 and a bit years. The paint was very soft and the bonnet looked like someone had sprinkled white tissue paper on it, with literally dozens of stone chips through to the white undercoat 🙁
I quite like the scirocco. I'd even have one in that full on green colour.
Golf's are a bit lack luster atm for me.
Then again, cars just don't do it for me in general.
Nice car Titus; looks like fun!
(Where are the front fogs??!)
It's nice but I feel they look a little bit bland for the money.
I'm sure you will have great fun with it.
I like it. Enjoy.
Titus, is that price a lease or PCP ? Not really up on Golfs, is it 4x4, or just fwd?
Bear, I think the fogs are in the 'vanes' in the front bumper, not 100% yet though!
Funky, its on PCP. In terms of transmission its front wheel drive with a electronically controlled, mechanical LSD. 230BHP, 258lb Ft and 1350kg. Combined mpg of 47 too!
Combined mpg of 47 too!
Hahahaha 🙂 my 07 one was quoted similarly. 40k odd real miles later and the average was about 28. Still, not too bad considering the fun it provided 🙂
so where do the bikes go?
@igm - very loyal VW / Audi customer here had 6 Golfs (inc Jetta), a Polo and an A6 - all trouble free (Audi owned 8 years 120,000 miles) - next car very likely to be a Golf or A3
@titus - enjoy the car and thanks for the update
What is this PCP thing? I thought it was a dissociative-drug. You mean to say that you take a loan out for a car, but the car's still not yours after the loan is repaid? How does that work? Like a lease/rental?
Enjoy titus. I don't think I could deal with the worry about kerbing those wheels! Give me a set of steelies any day
What is this PCP thing?
It seems to be a way for people to say they want to buy a new £30k car to end up with a car that isn't new, doesn't fit the original spec and is worth considerably less than £30k, but still costs £30k.
handy way to think you're impressing the neighbours though
ChubbyBlokeInLycra - Memberso where do the bikes go?

Any other ways of putting the OP down you can think of?
😳
I genuinely thought he meant it drove like it was mentally high on drugs (pcp thing).
Looks good, bet it goes like it's on PCP and wish I could afford that much car. Enjoy!
Christ there are some bitter people on here..
The car looks ace, I saw a white one out on the road last week and they stand out a lot more than you'd think.
Nice car. Good blend of practicality v fun.
Enjoy it!
Lovely car, enjoy. Although...
Combined mpg of 47 too!

... Watch out for this. I have a 63 plate CC which is advertised with a combined Mpg of 55, after just shy of 9000 miles I average 45Mpg, OK I drive fairly quickly on the motorways but I don't hoon around elsewhere. That said I love the car so have largely ignored it and put it down to experience - I will have a chat with VW what it goes in for it's first service and see what they have to say about it.
thats lovely... Best colour too.
Manufacturers quoted MPG's are all bullshit anyway.
Enjoy.
M135 would have been a better choice though 😉
I put the mpg as its the only comparison. So far I've got 25mpg 😀

You obviously don't understand how the 'factory' mpg is worked out...

Check your cars mpg here.
so where do the bikes go?
In the boot... Where else? It'll take 3 with no trouble.
Jambalaya - A5, 2x A4 and 2x A3 - all drank oil at an amazing rate, new air-con required as it packed up in 18 months from new, new engine management system required as it packed up in 12 months from new, new driveshaft as it exited the engine (may be a technical name but I don't know it) as it developed a hairline crack in about 18 months in. There was more but I can't remember it all. Admittedly the cars were doing a little more mileage than yours, but you'd expect a car to do 30-45k a year up to 200k without to many problems - the current BMW is heading for that problem free, as did my old Pug 406. Fords have also been a far more pleasant experience than VAG (and bizarrely my Mondeo was more refined than either the A3 or the BMW 3 series - but uses more fuel)
I've got a 60 plate Mk6 GTD (170) & if i drive like a grandma, i get 44mpg. You'll be doing well to average 30 in the gti. does look nice though & the mk7 is supposed to king of the hot hatches again.
how can they get away with advertising mpg rates that are so wrong compared to actual driving? i know we alll drive differently but does anyone get near what they state?

Because it's how they do on this stupid test:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_European_Driving_Cycle
No hard acceleration (it takes 25 seconds to go from 0 - 30mph), no start stop (creeping forward in slow traffic), no decent amount of motorway driving (just 20 seconds at 75).
Sorry to hear that @igm, the only thing I'd add is that the main Audi dealer frequently told us we needed work done, we just ignored them and took the car to an outstanding independent who generally told us all was fine/minimum work required. We had been warned about that particular dealer as our neighbour used a dealer 30 miles away instead of the local one 2 miles down the road.
Surely not the one on a local industrial estate, jambalaya!?!? Their bullet belts are almost as big as the Volvo ones 5 miles further north.
Went into the buy coolant from Volvo garage and they tried to pretend that I needed brand new reservoir (sales dept). Even joked about stunt that people pull to make it look like you need one (cue alarm bells). Said I would come back in a week (to see if coolant dropped at all), you can guess the rest. To be fair, mechanic had a look on the quiet and agreed with me that the sales guys were talking crap.

This is pretty good - gives real world comparisons, some are horrific. The 2.0 T(F)SI as in the Audi A4/A5, Golf GTI, Scirocco etc gets about 70% of claimed, albeit worse in the Audis than the VWs. Interestingly in the mk6 Golf GTI the real world DSG consumption is a chunk better than the manual, which is the reverse of the claimed.
@teamhurtmore - yes exactly ! Final straw was £2000 quote for inlet manifold, reduced to £1500 when we said we didn't want the work done and £60 paid to independent who took it apart as said actuator arm had become dislodged (in my mind not be accident, as problem emerged just after a service). Merc Medic in Old Woking are outstanding, specialise in German cars but worth checking out.
Two of my neighbours won't use the said dealer also, one bought a new Audi from Camberly and the other a different brand.

They aren't advertising that their cars will get that fuel economy. That's not what it is. It's what the car achieves on a standard test, as above.
It used to be that the combined figure was similar to what you'd get in normal driving, but not really any more because manufacturers have learned how to cheat whilst doing the tests; and even worse they allegedly tune the cars to do well at the test AT THE EXPENSE of real-world economy, which is frankly disgraceful.
Apparently though Volvo don't do this, which is why their cars seem to perform less well on the tests but are actually pretty good in real life anecdotally.
I can achieve the combined figure in my Prius with extreme care in mixed driving; and no bother at all on the motorway (61mpg), but only in the summer. I can easily beat it in the Passat because I do more motorway than town. However they are both older cars with much more sensible test results, before cheating became so common.
brickyard - Memberhow can they get away with advertising mpg rates that are so wrong compared to actual driving? i know we alll drive differently but does anyone get near what they state?
Because they don't actually "drive them" on the test as such
Its all done in a controlled environment on a rolling road 😀
Thankfully the days of over fuelling to stop close coupled cats melting in real world driving conditions are soon to be over.
Maxtorque is the man you need to answer all things calibration, he is the master of 0's and 1's 8)
(put it this way, a fairly popular car of the last decade, at anything over 2/3rds throttle had an Air/Fuel ratio of 9:1 just to keep the Exhaust Gas Temps down below 1000 deg C) which translated to hideous fuel economy at real world motorway speeds because it was hosing fuel in to keep the cats cool 🙄
Good choice OP, Nice colour too
OP, I'm hoping to do the same deal as you (similar spec, too, but different colour...) through DTD.
How did you find the DTD experience? (And which dealer did you collect from?)
a fairly popular car of the last decade
Curious to know what car that is? As in, high performance or low?
Cos 2/3 throttle sounds a lot for motorway speeds, and 1000C EGT is rather high no?
Dorset, DTD was absolutely fine, no problems using it, they really arnt involved much!
The dealer I had was JCB group (Gillingham or ashford), I could choose to collect from either. It was a slightly 'here's your car, sign here, off you go' type experience but I cant blame them as they know we arnt local.
Really happy I didn't use my local dealer as I saved thousands of pounds through DTD
Buy a GT Fury World Cup then spend £23K on a car
Sweet wheels. Great colour, am very jealous. Have a BMW (old man's touring model) and prefer the look of MKV/VI/VII GTIs.
