I've turned 15 metres of stainless steel tubing into various small bits:

Not really a serious thing yet, but got myself a pantograph engraving machine and been experimenting with it:

...and messing about with custom-engraved brake levers:

Pantographing is fun 😉
When you said pantograph - i was expecting a photograph of widow t****y .....
I had to google , i aint seen one of them since high school techie drawing class. And even then it was the teacher saying - this is one method we used to use for drawing transfer rather than us actually using it.
Aye there are pantographs for drawings too - this kind is what is used to engrave trophies and nameplates and the like, though now CNC engravers are taking over, so I got this lot for £122:

I like that pantograph thing. Very cool.

I made this last winter, I'll be upgrading the electrics this winter
Not a major piece of work, certainly by comparison to some of the outstanding examples others have shown, but it gives me pleasure to use every time I go out for a walk:

One piece of Holly, cut last winter, left in the shed for six months, then a couple of hours sat out on the patio trimming the cut ends square, smoothing off the trimmed side shoots, glueing a copper pipe reducer on the foot, and a couple of coats of Danish Oil.
More recently I did a little custom job on a folding pocket knife I bought. It had ramshorn scales, which I didn't much like, so I set about constructing new ones:
I found two thin sheets of Striped Asian Ebony at Knife-UK, for making new scales for a fixed blade knife, which were ideal, and only cost £3, the knife I had only required half of one sheet! The biggest problem was that the manufacturer used T6 bolts to hold the horn scales, three of which came out, but one refused to budge. Tried everything, down to drilling the head out, prising the scale off, and cutting a slot, using pliers to grip the remaining bit of screw, nothing would budge it.
Resorted to filing it smooth, taking the knife to an engineering company, and asking them to carefully drill it out and re-tap it! Cost me £15, but worth it.
Got some red fibre lining sheet to glue to the new wood scales, found some stainless M3 cap-head bolts from a model engineering company, countersunk the scales as best I could with my very limited facilities, and this is the finished result:

I was doing a photography evening class at the college where I work and the last assignment was on presentation. I decided to make a zoetrope, an early device for making still images appear to move.
I did three strips of 24 images, all based on woodworking. The one in the image is drilling a hole with a carpenters brace.
The drum is mounted on a 3-speed shopper bicycle wheel so makes a nice clicking as you spin it, and there are some Ikea light diodes mounted inside which change colour.
I got a distinction 😀

Here are a couple of workbenches I made last week for the garage. Well chuffed with myself.
Good effort with the mini bar pete 🙂
Kayak ... That zoetrope is ace
Thanks, the beer fridge helped determine the layout of the bench.
Nice bench, and the zoetrope is superb.

Stick is hazel, handle is yew, joint is reinforced with a 5mm steel woodscrew, epoxied into a hole, head dremelled off and handle epoxied and screwed onto the other end, joint further reinforced with a copper ring made from a pipe reducer with the narrow end cut off.
Foot is another, smaller pipe reducer filled with epoxy, the whole given a coat of Danish oil.
Rather pleased with the result. 😀

Knocked up a couple of things for my cargo bike
First is a copy of the xtracycle fick back stand which the purchase price is eye watering for the real thing.
Made from some cheap bmx bars cut and then badly welded back together.
Second thing was an extension to the brakeset I'd made from some 575 calipers and alivio levers. Used some banjo fittings and a block of alloy threaded to fit them -one day I'll make a neater version.

Wow, that's some shiny stuff there. I approve wholeheartedly!
More shiny! And 3D Violet anodising! That takes me back, somewhere I've got an original pair of Easton Hyperlite bars in 3D Violet off my old Cannondale SuperVee. *sigh*, those were the days...
Lummox, just shamfer the edges at 45 degrees and make it octagonal and leave it at that.
Bit reluctant to post this one because I'm not that impressed with it myself. Got bored quite quickly I think. For some reason I found it very hard to find any really good, high quality pictures of womens road racing featured Lizzie. The blokes it's dead easy to find loads of pictures of them climbing with great backdrops.
Anyway, Lizzie, Marianne and Olga.

A sweet-potato curry last night with a few friends. I'd post up a picture, but it must have been pretty good because there's none left.
Just finished my suspension linkage and bolts as Intense don't make them any more and none available.

High power spud gun from a bunch of old plumbing fittings a ball valve,2ltr pop bottle, inner tube valve and a spring. All recycled so cost nothing but a couple of hours of time. Keep you amused for hours shooting pyramids of tin cans!
