Become a lawyer. No need for hobbies then - you can just look back with fondness on all those free evenings you used to have....

+1 for many of the above...

helicopters
airfix (well, preferably not airfix but you get the idea)
home brewing
art
music in all its forms. learn an instrument or three. some are more suited to home playing than others...

and god forbid you should want some exercise, there's always the gym

See how far you can count, write down were you leave off every night and start again after tea the following night.

Buy a telescope and keep an eye on your neighbours

Better than helicopters...quadrocopters.

Easier to fly

That makes them worse than helis - if it was easy to fly them it would be boring.

I want a quadcopter though. 🙂

Fair point, I'm hopeless at creating anything new. I learned very quickly when I started that I absolutely have to have a reference.

To the OP, and this may not help. My wife tried to get me barn dancing to fill some time. NO WAY, I said, I'd rather go ballroom dancing than do barn dancing.

Guess where we're going next Tuesday. 🙁

Looking at the hubsan quadrocopters they do one with a built in camera. Youtube footage looks quite good for such a small device. Off to local model shop tomorrow.... 😀

Air rifle.

Get some targets set up in the back garden, and then lazily shoot them from your bedroom window.

You could get the kids to create some zombies using old stuffed clothes.

Amateur radio. Great fun chatting to random people around the world.

Also, get one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/KEEDOX%C2%AE-RTL-SDR-Receiver-Realtek-RTL2832U/dp/B009VBUYA0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380025792&sr=8-2&keywords=dvb+dongle

And look around the web about what you can do with it other than watch TV (real time air traffic control radar display, various radio uses etc - search google for RTL SDR).

Cheers

I play badminton with a group of mates on Wednesday evenings in winter. Good and fun way to keep fit when its a bit too miserable to climb on the bike for a night ride. Ask your riding mates if they fancy giving it a go... you'll enjoy the rivalry!

Piedi di formaggio,

42008 and 42009 available as a single item on eBay with international shipping from a seller I've used before... that BiN button didn't stand a chance.

Beelzebub: Tell me about your novel... Is it available in ebook form? How long did it take? And how did you cope with writers' block?

I'm writing one myself at the moment. I estimate I'm 60% of the way through. I'm anticipating completion by March 2014.

Learn a language/photography/magic/or something?
Alternatively, have you got a hackspace near you?

Recreational drug use. It's mushroom season as well.

Reading.. Novels, or a subject you've always been interested in. Economics, law, architecture or something. That'll keep you busy.

Cooking.

Airfix: awesome hobby. Hang the planes at jaunty angles from your ceiling using a hot pin in the body of the aircraft and some thin cotton. (And a white drawing pin in the ceiling)
