Christmas is nearly here and we're thinking about treating ourselves to a new hifi since our current one is about 7 years old and was only a £200 Sony mini (and it gets used constantly when we're at home, its literally never off!).

So, I've had a look at the Richer Sounds site and theres a seperates system on there for £300. Sounds pretty good (in theory) and the ability to plug in an iPod dock at some point and a turntable (both a must really) appeal. Is there anything else knocking about that anyone can reccommend though for similar'ish money?

The other option (which I know won't appeal to the purists!) is to look at another mini - I really like the idea of the Sonys with the hard drives built in but aren't sure of the compatability with a turntable if needed? Or Richar Sounds have some really good looking deals on other minis from Denon and Teac etc.

Help? Basically, £300'ish to spend on something that won't take up loads of space, has CD, radio (DAB would be nice but not essential), sounds good and will be compatible with an iPod and turntable at some point in the future.

Cheers
Dave

You'd prob get better sound going SH but it would be a lot of homework/hassle.

At that price speakers are probs the crucial component (worth going SH there, eg Rega Kytes at arounf £70 on ebay), and positioning them will make a big difference too (if there is flexibility there).
