I was just doing some work in the garden and went to jab my fork in the ground and hit something solid.

Removed the sod and found this-

It's next to my compost bin, about 3m away from the septic tank.

You can see a few white cobbles set in but I'm not sure what letters to spell out.

So is it something to do with the tank or a weird headstone? Hidden treasure? Enlightened me STW!

My money is on a dead dog under that slab.

Unless the previous owners wife disappeared in mysterious circumstances...

I'm up in NW Cumbria.

I could ask the previous house owners but where is the fun in that?

If it's a pets grave it's pretty elaborate.

It's just your common, run of the mill portal to another dimension. Sacrifice a chicken in the name of the old ones and you'll have nothing to fear. Might be best to buy a pet goat too, just to be safe like. We all know how the old ones fear goats.

Nin is what it looks like, which is old english young girls name derivative of Nancy. H can be an abbreviation of "Here Lies"

It'd make me nervous

It's near a sewer system and there's a new It film out this year, that's not a coincidence ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is there another set of white stones to the bottom left of the image? If so I agree with the above that it might be upside down.

Grab some garlic and a silver stake just incase.

I rotated it too, but my brain read "MINE" H, so unexploded munitions or a capped shaft?

No idea what it is but I'd be burying it under a load of concrete just to be safe.

No house number.

Looking on old OS maps there was a pit over to road 100+ years ago. I think my house has something to do with the pit.

There's a lot of mining history around here, the slab looks too small though.

I wondered if it was an old fire hydrant sign but haven't found similar examples yet...

Have we finally found Hora?....

Or maybe under that runish slab lies the bike that will finally fit Renton...

Water mains is to the front of the house. We have a well in a different part of the garden.

It's strange as it's exactly next to the compost bin, in the veggie plot.
