I have a strong suspicion that my girlfriend got me tickets to Slowdive for Christmas. Hopefully it won't be awkward that she's my ex-girlfriend now.

You want to know what's super mega awkward? When this exact same thing happens with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and she gives you a lift to the gig, in another city. And when you get there, it turns out that she thought she was seeing the metal bands Godspeed and Emperor, and therefore wants to leave before she even gets through the door

The one band I never got to see in the eighties. 30th anniversary concert. Very excited now even though it's gonna be the first concert I've ever gone to as a Billy no mates.

I saw FOTN on the Moonchild tour - well good. Not sure what they're like without the original members. Would still like to see McCoy's band but London is too far for me

Hadn't realised it wasn't the original line up but I guess the singer is the main draw? For the sake of £30 (and a 250 mile round trip) I thought it would be worth a punt. Saw that they were doing 2 30th anniversary gigs when I watched Goth on the BBC the other week and impulse bought the ticket at 4am.

I hope I won't be disappointed.

@MrTall Shepards Bush is a great venue, who cares if you are Billy no mates, bar and standing with a pint in front of the stage or have a beer in pub next door before. Great atmosphere and easy to find people to chat with

I haven't lived in the UK for quite a while now and a few of these posts have me going "omg! are they still going' e.g Echo & the Bunnymen (Jealous about this one), Carter, The Levellers and flippin'eck 'The Fields of the Nephilim.
Anyway I'm contemplating the 'The Datsuns'in late December and have 'Black Keys' tickets for April next year

My local has a blinding little venue which acts pretty much as a warm up stop for loads of bands.
Last week we saw the Slaves and God Damn (both good)

This sat I'm off to see Whales in cubicles(sound good on you tube)
Tues it's gaz Coombs (ex super grass)
And the 31st it's the cockney rejects (oi oi)

Not looked at Decembers dates but I'm sure there's 2 or 3 worth seeing.

me too, got all my vinyl signed too (incl the green vinyl version of the Gehenna EP). Still got them in the wardrobe.

Only gig I have booked is Andy Fairweather Low in Buxton next weekend, saw him recently at Hayfest and was knocked out by how good their "cut-down" set was so really looking forward to the full thing
