As far as I can make out after a few months loitering here; STW community is made up of:

1. IT crowd
2. Coppers
3. Brickies

Behind usernames and the odd stand-out opinions, there isn't much to go on to build a picture of what makes this strange, argumentative and yet on occasions supportive, kind and entertaining place.

(I do wonder whether some people here even own a bike....)

Jobs, or whatever you do during the day...

I'll start. Business Analyst 🙄

I make sure that we will all have power in the future, that we can efficiently leverage our valuable fossil resources by supporting and balancing an unpredictable renewables driven grid whilst minimising the impact on our environment.

I am in Operations on a fuel storage depot owned by a govt dept based in Whitehall, looking after, storing and distributing aviation fuel in rather large quantities across a network nationwide via road and pipeline. Shift working non suit wearing type of job....so no Audi or IT Dept under me 😉

I design (parts of) mobile phone networks and write SW tools to help my colleagues / customers do the same. 95% of our business is in Africa / Middle East, although there is the occasional bit of work in London for O2:

Here's someone putting up our kit in London:

NB I do a side line is self build shonky workshops, if anyone is interested?

It's what you find yourself doing if you fail to decide what it is you want to do when you grow up and lack ambition and drive

I support severely learning disabled adults with autism for Brighton & Hove City Council. I'm also in the last few months of an adventure education degree.

As the deadlines loom I spend far more time writing assignments on MTB than I do riding 🙁

Full time single parent with a part time job.

In reality I get up, get the nipper off to school, do a spot of house work then get the road bike out for a couple of hours then have a kip.

It's a hard life... 8)

I own and run a small bike shop so my presence here is quite seasonal.
Over the next three or four months expect to see plenty of my opinions/wit/knowledge/drivel*. By mid February I'll (hopefully) be far too busy fixing brakes, gears etc on Argos bikes to have time for idle chit chat.

* Delete as appropriate.
