house of cards.

i have a rule about tv series : don't start watching them until the last episode is aired

(i can't stand series that go on and on and on and on and on until they run out ideas and it all turns to crap)

house of cards does break my rule, but i'm just pretending that the end of season 2 is 'The End'...

I've enjoyed;
Breaking Bad (naughty teacher drug dealer)
The Wire (naughty cops and drug dealers)
Banshee (ex con does identity theft extreme)
House of Cards (horrible bastard is horrible)
Justified (badass marshall, great setting, brilliant baddies)
Orphan Black (surprisingly good sci-fi thing)
True detective (cop thing; excellent acting)

The Simpsons once made a quip about british telly - 'See Britain's longest running sitcom - watch all eight episodes'. If you like doing the box-set splurge you're generally stuck with american stuff except for..... 'Ideal' which has been tucked away in a corner of BBC3 racking up nearly 60 episodes and a cast that slowly expands to around 100 characters including all sorts of unexpected cameos. Its sort of a light hearted, surreal version of The Wire.

Generally I can't stand any TV series made in the USA because to me they all seem to be be money spinners, e.g. "How long can we keep this going, till we have zero viewers?". Lost broke it for me, actively avoided US TV since then.

A recent exception though is True Detective. However if there is a second series I will refuse to watch it.*

If you can read, or speak Danish/Swedish then The Bridge is good

*EDIT Seems like a series 2 is on cards, but with completely different characters, plots and location. Might give it a go then. My refusal was based on the speculation they'd try to do more with the Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughay characters

I assume he doesn't want to be riding his bike every hour of the day and would require some time to relax? Or does that make him a lazy slob and hence inferior?

Easy tiger, some folk can relax AND ride a bike simultaneously, IIRC they're not mutually exclusive activities, unless one is special.
😆

Fair play.

I knew there was something missing from my life. What TV do you recommend ? I'm kinda between TVs at the moment.
