So, need to give the best man a bit of guidance on the stag do front - looking for a september/october doo.

Don't want eastern Europe
Want UK
want affordable (to maximise participants)
want activity
want location where you can be silly without annoying too many folk.

OR just give me some funny/horror stories.

Dublin, since my dad won't fly. Some flew, some trained, wasn't hugely expensive. Was very good. Guinness factory tour, beer bike etc.

Don't do what happened to me.....it started in the Canny Mans pub in Edinburgh and ended in the Golf tavern (not very far) where I was hung out an upper floor window, clothes removed, they were then soaked, neatly folded and put in the freezer while two strippers and a snake arrived....

I'm sure the modern 'stag weekends' are much more inclusive now 🙂

Bah. An expensive 'activity' to provide a framework in which to do heinous amounts of booze and drugs. What's not to like?

Booze up in my local.
Then down to the south coast to do some coasteering.
Then to Bournemouth for the usual booze and strippers binge.
Much fun, but I got off very lightly.

He's extremely unlikely to see this so I can say what we're arranging for our stag.

It had to be UK based and we'd done the usual paintball, karting etc to death so we've gone for canal boating. A nice two day weekend break ending in Manchester and taking in some picturesque villages and country pubs along the way. Really looking forward to it.

Tbh, the best I've been on have been more "a weekend's quality time with some mates" than "staaaaag, rrrraaaaaghhhh".

To that end, Montreal, the economy of which seems entirely to be built on strip joints. Good food, good booze, lots to see.

My friend (the stag) did too much marching powder and ended up in a coma. We can laugh about it now....

haven't had a stag do of my own, but the best that i've been on involved canal boating from someplace pretty to Brum. Best way to spend 3 days.

I did a trip to the local pub beer festival and a curry so my Dad and F-in-law to be could come along. They wouldn't have wanted to come on a weekend away.

Then a long weekend on the Norfolk Broads aboard The Acapulco; a 12 berth boat thing. Had ok weather and a great time. Most of the blokes reckoned it was the best stag do they'd been on. They probably always say that though!

I went out for a meal with my best man on Oxford Road in Manchester, then we went across the road to see Steve Reich in concert at the RNCM. It was ace! Not very stagish though.....I can think of little worse than going on a 'laddish' stag do mind! Each to their own I guess, at the age of 27 I'm still yet to visit a strip club.

Group of 15 ish people, close friends, wife's dad and brother, my dad and god father. Hell of a weekend, everyone had a great time.

"Couple of casuals" in the local pub on the Friday which may have ended in a lock-in until 3am.
Clay pigeon shooting Saturday morning followed by a pub lunch.
Rafting near Llangollen in the afternoon.
Beers in Chester Saturday evening, definitely no strip clubs involved, definitely not...
Hungover breakfast then a train home to the midlands.

I had a fairly typical lads stag, I loved it!

Met up for a breakfast, one pint in they had we dressed in full scuba gear with a fake oxygen tank full of booze!

Boarded the train train for Edinburgh, except it wasn't. So slight detour via Glasgow. Lost everyone in Edinburgh, still dressed in scuba outfit so no phone or wallet.

Booze
Gentleman's club
Paint-balling
Booze
Curry

Booze

Ace weekend. Even witnessed a guy fall on a banana skin, thought it only happened in cartoons!

Edit- just to add I had told the lads I didn't want to spoil the nights out by getting dressed up, that's why they had me in scuba gear for the journey there.

Off to Aberfeldy for me. Gin and beer on Friday evening, Saturday morning clay pigeon shooting, with a hangover, afternoon 4x4 off road driving. Saturday night more gin in the hotel. Staff went off to bed leaving us to pay what we thought was about right. Sunday morning, white water rafting on the Tay. All in all rather excellent.

I had three stags as no one event would satisfy my eclectic group of friends.
I had a Geology weekend away in Marloes, a clay shoot and then Tiestö at Creamfields.

Loved all of them although I never want to see a gun near one of my mates ever again, he was plain scary with it!

Pub crawl using a 10 berth canal boat. 2 days playing pirates and upsetting regular canal users with excessive (ha!) speed. It was epic.

Just me and my best man, went to the opening night of Star Wars II - the Clone thingy - then a curry at Nottinghams most expensive curry house. Then a few beers in various hostelries while my best man exchanged lots of texts with a girl who had a crush on him at school 15 years before. And 10 years after he had been married....

Oh yeah, 45 years old, never been to a strip show or "gentlemens" club. Frankly a little scared of the idea now.....

I didn't bother with one.

Toughest one I went on was in France, we rode La Marmotte for a stag do. Was absolutely shagged after that one.

Had a weekend in Newcastle, Friday night at the dog track, Saturday at a karting track. Lots of seedy bars and clubs, and I believe some of the guys who could still stand up on the Saturday night found some exotic dancers.

Strip clubs are shite anyway IME (only been to one though). Some of the girls were quite attractive but I can't see the appeal of making yourself sexually frustrated. 🙂

done loads of the cliched resorts and european cities, done vegas a couple of times too. but the best by far was when we all just stayed in a nice all inclusive place for a few days. kin great. get up when you want, can always find everyone, meals are all laid on, lounge by pool and booze all day rather than traipsing round, playing water polo, beer pong, volley ball, killer pool etc. sleep. repeat. bang on.

Had a ride round Forest of Dean on the Friday on the way down, stayed in really nice cottages near Malmsbury (converted farm buildings, pool, tennis court, lots of animals roaming about - could not believe the owners were not only happy to take a stag do, but they even went away for the weekend themselves! Mind you, rowdy we are not), walk to a local pub for the best steak I think I've ever had, minimoto Saturday morning (got me a surprise second!), just the best afternoon round the BBQ drinking beer and talking cobblers as the sun went down, back to the pub, then a very bleary ride round Ashton Court on the Sunday morning and home to sleep for eighteen hours. Wouldn't have changed a thing (except the spirits).
