I think my next motor to replace my FRV will be a V70 r-design with a piddling 2.0d

Edit
Although I do get giddy occasionally and these are loads of car for the money

How cheap

My C1 is a dirty cheap deal lease car. HALF the monthly cost of an Aygo. Why own if leasing is so cheap?

Mazda 3 2litre Sport. All the toys, terrible fuel economy. Bland as. Reliable.

Mini Cooper Clubman. 1.6 a bit wheezy. Good economy. 17in wheels + run flat tyres give harsh ride. Handlers great.

Mazda's going next year. Just going to buy a big estate (A6, 5 series, Passat, etc) and be boring.

Subaru Impreza sportswagon, fantastic car, super reliable and still has the grin factor despite looking boring. So good we haven't found anything to replace it yet.

Family wagon is a Volvo XC90

Wife requested an A3 as a runaround - had to be black or silver with parking sensors.
I found her a nice A3 3.2V6 Quattro DSG :-)). Bought it yesterday for a good deal - first drive today with 2 filthy bikes, and 2 even muddier riders! Oops!!

Mazda 6 TS2 estate (2006) its only done 70,000 miles and I can't see any reason to change it. Had the silly cars in my 30's
Did own one from 6 to 265,000 miles only 1 breakdown in that time too

Would probably like an Evo though

One car house as cars are expensive here.

We have a 2012 Hyundai Veloster, got it 4 months ago, has 10'000km on the clock already, 500km a week commute for the GF.

When I was in the UK I had a work Transit Connect and a 306 Rallye, she had a Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge.

In the spirit of BiscuitPowered, I'm never selling this.
Horrendously thirsty, terrifyingly quick, achingly beautiful, and I can get the bike in it.
Also, a Jeep Cherokee for when the bambino arrives. It's my safety net for when I get the inevitable "oooooh, you'll be getting rid of that silly thing then, what with a baby on the way?"

Jambo asked a long time ago (7 months!) how dreadful was dreadful. If i drive with slippers and don't exceed the speed limit maybe 30 to the gallon. Mixed use around town and use of the loud pedal to get to the limit quickly 23! Throw another polar bear on the fire, I'm cold!!
My S3 is a 52 plate and has 130k on the clock and in keeping with Dribbling it's a cherished beastie.

301,000 mile Y reg Passat Estate . 1.9 TDi

I think me and you might be jockeying for the highest mileage motor. I don't own a car but have a Y reg sprinter with 308,000 miles. You'll probably overtake me pretty soon though as I've also just recently bought a wee astra van which will do the bulk of the longer journeys from now on as it uses exactly half the fuel.

Jambo asked a long time ago (7 months!) how dreadful was dreadful.

It may have taken you a while to reply but they missed the 'S3' bit of your original sentence. To be fair though it was eight words long and had a punctuation mark.

My '99 Bora, aka The Beast, has just notched up 80k and still going strong. 30+ mpg around town. 40+ on the motorway. Not bad for a often slated petrol engine that dates back to the 80's.

A3 TDi Quattro Sport. 80k on the clock, bit heavy on tyres but great on fuel.

And a passat tdi estate with 155k, getting traded for a t4 or T5 soon.

Renault scenic '04. Terrible car that gets terrible treatment. Dented rear end, gaffer taped bumper, dodgy electrics and an interior that's usually awash with comics, bits of food, random toys and a thick layer of grime.

The automatic headlights are quite handy though.

the short journey will kill a diesel engine urban myth is bolox imo. I've run a 1.4 tdci fiesta for 7 years rarely sees a dual carriage way or motorway and just hit 93k on 52 plate, hasnt missed a beat. may be different for bigger engines though?

Big grey sheddy denty Mondeo estate, full of mud. Ideal for me really- quick enough, and quite fun to drive (180bhp from the 2.2 diesel, with a little fettling) but can waft along on fumes giving 60mpg, if allowed to.)

Can't park it though.

Up until recently I had a Mercedes S65, a range rover sport tdv8, a BMW 335d and a VW fox. I've had a bit of a meltdown I guess and have chopped in my rich ahole lifestyle for a much more simple lifestyle in the middle of nowhere (well, Wales.

Currently borrowing a neighbour's vauxhall signum ( worth "about 800 notes with a full tank of diesel butt" ), and you know what, I think it's so uncool it goes full circle and is probably the coolest car I have driven for years. Have my eye on a Subaru outback spec B or a forester. .

Feels good man.

I've got an A4 2.0tdi S line, 2008 that I've had from 8k miles upto the current 70k, it's been a cracking car, however, it's actually not very big, especially with the big s-line bucket seats in the front, there's no leg room behind me at all. It's going to be chopped in for an A6 when one comes into the dealers.

2003 TT, not a great drivers car, but fun enough cruising in the sun. It's done 50miles since it's last service 3 months ago! Also trading in for the A6

Mk6 golf 2.0 blue motion as a company car, 6 weeks and 3.5k miles nice little motor and surprisingly rapid with the 140bhp engine. Does 48mpg driving like a lunatic on country roads. Very pleased with it

58 plate Fiat Doblo - very practical and surprisingly good to drive - very reliable so far.

The Doblo replaced a 280,000 mile Vauxhall Omega which had just lost the will to live. 😐

The Omega replaced a Daewoo Nexus, which was given to me and which I loved - it was a fantastic car, took us to some wonderful places - RIP Shedric.
It even had the decency to blow up outside a pub.
God, I miss that car.

Bike and dog car is an A6 Quattro Avant, 2.7tdi - outstanding mile eating machine - 100k since new in Mar-07

@Jason - nice combination !

@transapp - A6 has lots of room for 4 adults, effortlessly whisked 4 of us to Marseilles in supreme comfort, try and get one with parking sensors front and rear, we only have rear and front too would have been useful - biggest downside to car is its a long beast when parking

ZOKES - I'm considering a freelander2 myself, any more opinions of it?

Well - that depends on what you want it for...

We seem to get 35-40 mpg (rough conversion from km/100L over here), but I don' drive in the city much. Off road you could double its consumption on some surfaces, but then that's normal.

As I said in my post, I find it amazingly car-like on-road, and surprisingly capable off road. It's comfy and handles well. From a practicality aspect, it could do with a bigger boot - the suspension pillars take up a surprising amount of space, though with the fold-flat seats down it's huge.

I'd had no problems what-so-ever with it for the first 25k, but just yesterday I noticed a whirring / whining from the rear, and it looks like the culprit is the rear diff. Thankfully mine's under warranty, and having just had it serviced, I'm unsure whether it is a case of the diff not being put back together correctly after being serviced, or wear. The former not being the car's fault, the latter obviously is.... The internet seems to indicate that I'm not alone in experiencing rear diff issues though.

So up until last week, I'd have unequivocally recommended it. Now, I'm not sure if Land Rover's legendary reliability issues haven't been solved after all - 25,000 km isn't far for a car to travel - things like diffs shouldn't be failing.

I've just (yesterday) sold my Celica, a much better car to drive than most probably think. It was 12 yrs old with 125k though so probably going to get maintainance heavy in the near future.

Now it's a (yawn) diesel avensis estate- its a better biking car though!

Oh go on then.

1995 Mercedes Benz E-320 Coupe (W142 series), lovely 3 litre V6, 155,000 miles (and it's for sale so you can do the next 100K miles if you want? No reason not to, it's built like a Panzer).

TT Mk2 as an every-day driver. Nice and surprisingly good fun to drive but should've got a Golf GTI really, if only to avoid the 'fashion accessory' image.

Toyota Rav 4, 110,000 miles and counting. Wife's car/general utility + camping vehicle.

So now you know.

Here's my old clunker of a Renault 4. she's as scruffy as anything but if I started getting her tidied up I'd never use it properly.

I take it everywhere and use it in the winter as a four wheeled wheelbarrow, its generally full of logs, springer spaniel and wet children!
