Similar to this thread.
I'll with my original suggestion of 'American Pie' by Terry McLean.
if you're inflicting the ketchup song on everybody, you can have a bit of this...
Awesome !,, ^^
Akshewally, for transcending the boundaries of language an' ting, and making music global, this;
Also a contender for the best video, IMHO.
I'll see your Ketchup song & raise you with Tight Fit..
Take On Me is the strongest contender so far IMHO.
"The Fox" there put me in mind of this:
For bikebouy (it's all his fault)
De de de de de der der, de de de de de der der.......
Vengaboyz has to be up there!!
Even makes Morrissey smile
Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes
T Rex - Ride a White Swan
I’m sorry, no really i am.
Suspend all disbelief and seek out the album by LMFAO, Sorry for Party Rocking. If for once in your life you just stick it on and play it so loud until the fish jump out of your iddy biddy fish tank and the wife walks out you will have reached the zenith, nee the epitome of dance pop..
I give you..
LMFAO, Sooooorrrry for Partyyyyyy Rooooockin
The sum of Awe headed my way and smacked me square on the forehead
Borderline by Madonna
Relax by Frankie, anything that annoys that oaf Mike Reed
You think it still annoys him 30 odd years later?
Transvision Vamp
Stop, collaborate and listen,
Thanks for playing, thanks to the OP for askin’
I love this sort of thing, free thinking (some of us) and just gettin’ in the groove..
I’d like to post Ace of Base’s rendition of “Cruel Summer” because it’s .. well ..Ace, but as the sayin’ goes you can’t beat the original (sometimes you can)
So, thank you and good night.. Bananrama’s “Cruel Summer”
It occurs to me that you're all wrong.
As said earlier.
Teenage Kicks by the Undertones.
It's just the perfect pop single.
If it wasn't for the complete t*t singing it ..
As a pop song ..Ziggy Stardust ..Bowie
Teenage Kicks. Approximately 2 mins 30 secs of perfection.
? yep ?
Teenage kicks and ever fallen in love come near the top but possibly beaten for poppiness by this one.
Even McCartney says God Only Knows is the most perfect pop song ever recorded!
Having said that, there are dozens, nay hundreds of great pop songs out there, ABBA have made a significant contribution just by themselves, then there’s the Beatles...
However, I’ve loved this song since I first heard it forty-six years ago, and it’s still stands out as a fantastic piece of pop music:
And don’t even think of comparing it with the shitty cover by the Happy bloody Mondays!
Please shut down thread on terms of humanity
*edit
Ah, can't decide so going with Stereolab!
Papa don't preach - Madonna.
.
CBA to wade through the whole thread, but if you didn't say Like a Prayer then you were worng.
Thanks for playing, though
Great thread. Teenage Kicks? Wasn't that the one John Peel played twice in a row? Had a line from it on his gravestone.

I'd agree with Come on Eileen by Dexy's
Or American Pie by Don McLean except it's possiblt too long for a pop single.
Or for me, probably not a popular choice but one that was playing all the time during a teenage summer - Lindisfarne - Run For Home. From the days when pop music was only on TV once a week.
Or Johnny B Goode
Common People - Pulp
What no Duran x2?
It's Billie Jean
Qua qua da diddley qua qua
T'pau Heart & Soul is one of my all time faves, Ian Brown's F.E.A.R has been an earworm all week after hearing it on the radio on Monday, but I think it would have to a track off Fleetwood Mac's 40-year old Rumours album, that is brimming with amazing tunes...
An all time classic, made famous by the guitar riff that has been used by F1 coverage for decades, but the rest of the tune is great too IMO.
