[Closed] Wearing a cycling cap when not cycling - is it ever OK?

[#7794555]

I've got a bald head. I work for a cycling company, outside, (usually) in the sun. Do I therefore qualify to wear a cycling cap for legitimate sun blocking reasons, or is it the case that anyone wearing a cycling cap when not actually riding a bike is by definition, a ****?

I'm torn.

What's the general opinion?

If you see a bloke in the supermarket wearing a cycling cap, what's your first thought?

Rule 22!

A number 6 flange must be kept in pristine condition ready for inspection at all times.

I don't see how that is relevant.

Is that a member of the Style Council?

I don't see why not. I mean baseball caps were made for baseball, but get worn for everything nowadays. It must surely be baseball's only substantial contribution to the human race. Why not cycling?

Much as I love them, they do make you look like a bit of a knob if you are not on the bike.

Just wear it!

EDIT: I'm assuming you are a slim, handsome bugger and can pull the look off.

I think you are old enough to wear what you want.

Anyone who takes part in 'fashion policing' needs to deal with what ever
issues they have in their life.

If it's a plain coloured one then it's not so bad, but personally I wouldn't if it has a blizzard of sponsor logo on (which they often do because thats one of their jobs)

However I sometimes wear a winter hat off the bike; because when it's so cold you need it, all the rules get trumped by avoidance of hypothermia

Only one man may wear a cycling cap while not cycling

[img] [/img]

He still looks like a fanny, it's just he's made a lifestyle of it.

Those Walz ones look good. Very similar to the 'Smiths London' one I just bought off eBay here.

I wear it on the bike, but I think it would look good off as well.

Are you Wesley Snipes?

No. You're not. So stop it.

And also, if you're even pondering shorts like those, just look at yourself in the mirror again. Are you Wesley Snipes? No. You're still not.

Northwind speaks the truth.
If your name's not Fruitbat then you can't wear one.

I've got a tweed one. I wouldn't wear it inside - the great virtue of a cycling cap is it can be stuffed in a pocket if you go inside. and you can wear it under your helmet on cold days.

The little peak keeps the rain off your glasses.

It's generally only worn on or around the bike though.

It's also great protection against woodpeckers. 🙂

Only the part of the human race that consists of slack-jawed yobs.
