Anyone know owt about weapons legislation? I'm in a drama group that's going to be doing a first world war play next year, and three of the characters could ideally do with being armed. Are there any rules associated with the handling of decommissioned weapons? And if not, anyone know a good place to hire a trio of Lee Enfields? Had a look on legislation.gov.uk but whilst it's easy to find a definition of a decommissioned , I can't see anything about regulations regardling the handling of em.
If its de activated its needs no special handling or paper work. The only thing to be aware of is its exposure to the public who getting twitchy over thins so not in the high street maybe.
Try a copy of Gun Mart to start with.

I'm sure any of the above could advise you.
Fantastico - really useful, thanks folks. 🙂
Or find a WW2 re-enactment society and ask if their members have any that you could borrow.
If you what something that looks like a rifle (smle your case) but at the same time is clearly not a weapon other than a club. try this-
inlarge pictures of a smle until full size and print them out, stick the prints to some ply and cut out with a jig saw.
you should be able to knock 3 up for £30. The smle is a good shape with any fiddy bits to go round.
Are you not overthinking this a bit? Replicas and props are pretty easily available, there's hire and sales companies who'll supply exactly what you want without any legal concerns.
If you like I could have a word with my brother, he might have a recommendation?
Maybe - I just didn't know anything about it, and was thinking the last thing we need on opening night is for Mr Plod to take the stage and ask some searching questions about our elligibility to handle replica or decommissioned firearms as the curtains open. 🙂
I've mailed a few randoms I've found on t'internet, but if your brother HAS got any recommendations and it's not a ballache to ask, that'd be fantastic, thanks. 🙂
Yeah, no bother. No guarantee I'll get an answer mind 😆 I'll drop him a line.
