I've sold on eBay.  You send it to the authenticator and they send it on after they're finished.  Was a painless process

I wouldn't be selling the GMT to fund a Tudor Chrono.   Keep the GMT and find another way to get the money!

Looks great Derek!   Happy with it?  Wear it for a few days and it softens up nicely.

Littlest Hobo, put pics up here, you never know there could be a taker. Maybe add the year and info on scratches. I’m sure the more knowledgeable on here may help to ensure you don’t list it too low.

I use eBay a fair bit for selling my watches, even sold a Rolex on eBay.  eBay do take a fairly heft chunk, but it is what it is.

For Hobo,  a quick search of tz-uk sales Corner.   These are peer to peer and mates rates kinda prices,  good sell to a dealer for a little less but not loads and loads.

Current smp, 2019, blue, rubber strap £2700 (cripes that went cheap,  but it didn't sell at 2800)

A black 2020 one listed back in June at £3200 remains unsold,  which as its on the bracelet isn't  bad price but everything is down currently.... tnt economy is shot.

Bond quartz smp on bracelet £1795

A 2006 2254.50 listed early Aug at a possibility hopeful £2595 remains.  This is a sword hand watch which is a bit more popular than the Skeleton hand bond, plus it has a nicer bracelet so they do go for a little more then Bond era smps.... so £2600 seems hopeful but not ridiculous

September 2023 green on rubber (green still commands a bit more then black and blue,  not sure where white sits these days)  £3600.... that feels too much to me on rubber but.....ah.  read the full thread,  it sold at £3300

Silver and blue on rubber £2500

Ahh another 2254.50 at a more sensible £2100. Cripes! Unsold since June.

A couple of goldeneye,  254.80  £1600 on bracelet quartz, both sold at that.

Hopefully gives an idea.

LittlestHobo, let us know how you get on. I have a couple I'm planning to sell in the medium term (Oris 10-day ProPilot, Tudor Heritage Chrono) and no clue how to go about it. Reddit/ TZ-UK etc all seem to be fairly closed to newcomers; Chrono24 is a bit tough to read for selling; so it does seem to come down to ebay.

Wow thanks guys.  I dont have a picture hosting account.  Can i  message the pics to someone and see what they think

@neilnevill just realised i discussed this watch with you back in 2019.  WOW you were helpful back then too.  Nothing has changed tbh

Looking at the paperwork (I have a receipt from 2014 for used purchase) it has a reference of 2531.80.00 and its a Nov 04 watch. 41mm Automatic.

Nicko74 i will keep this updated if it helps.  Taking it to a retailers today to see what they think.  TBH i am not expecting much.  Even if it was worth £3k i would expect them to offer no more than £1k due to margins etc.  We will see.

Hobo you can use the “scenery” logo above to select a pic direct from you device, but if you have trouble send me the pic at Kryton57 at sky dot com and I’ll post it for you.

Not as a free member IIRC.

Hobo, you can use postimages.org without any kind of account.

I have mailed you Kryton.  Thanks

Just come back from the jewellers.  The guy who does the valuing is off ill so ive left it with them.  TBH i wasnt very impressed with the lady that dealt with me, very hostile which i couldn't understand.  Zero communication when i tried to be friendly and started off with claiming it was faulty until i pointed out she hadnt pulled the adjuster out enough to wind it and it was an automatic.  She just sat there adjusting the date and time for a 5 mins while i looked at the top of her head and then wrote a receipt out.  I think i will get a more personal service from Ebay tbh.

Lets see what they come back with.  Will be interesting if you guys guess too.  Mine is under £1k.  It hasnt had a service in my ownership so it is overdue a service.  No damage other than wear on clasp.  Keeps pretty good time if worn regular.  Not sure what else to add

1 x Omega for expert critique…  ‘Hobo, I’ve left the warranty cards and papers off for fraud issues via public pictures.

If they don't deal much in Omega watches, or for some other reason they just don't want it,  then you'll get a ridiculous offer.

A Skeleton hands,  wave dial 2531, decent average condition,  I'd guess £2200-2400, plus or minus £300+ for condition.  A decent dealer that wants it would pay about 65-70% of that,  so ~£1500 is a decent offer maybe.  You will readily get more on ebay.

Thanks Kryton.  I didnt know there would be any issue with the numbers on the cards etc.

neilnevill at £1500.

I sold my 2541.80 quartz on eBay for £1600 a couple of years ago and it was battered

The cheapest 2531 sold on eBay recently was £1500, most of them £2k-£2.4k…

I just sold one of my watches via eBay, sold last night, had the money in my account this morning and it’ll be off to authentication this morning.

The market is a bit flat at the moment and I took a couple of hundred less than expected for mine but nice condition, popular, well priced models always sell.

Has the watch accuracy checker app disappeared off the Google app store? It's the orange and white one where you time your watch to a full minute and it works out the daily deviation. Useful for real world accuracy. New phone me didn't automatically download it and I can't exactly remember the app name.

Got something new to show later when I get some photos too.

I think i will try ebay and put it at £1500 reserve.

Better to start an auction at £1500 than put a reserve.  You pay an extra fee to list with a reserve.  Check the potential fees on something like https://www.ebayfeescalculator.com/uk-ebay-calculator/ to make sure you’re happy with the potential costs before you list.

Check the potential fees on something like...

Wait for one of the regular discount offers. They don't make it very easy to spot when they are live, so download the app and check messages regularly. Mainly run over weekends so look on Friday.

Can't make my mind up about that new CW? First glance was positive but then I think it looks like it was designed by a five year old...

Funny you should say that Bullet.  When I watch video the second time and focused on the depth of the dial and indices it reminded me of one of those plastic balls I used to push shapes through holes when I was a kid.

£1000 Hobo, they just don't want it.   As you say,  Ebay. I bet it goes for over £2k

Wait for one of the regular discount offers

not everyone gets them, but well worth using if you can.  I just sold a watch at £1300 and got charged around £35 in fees.  Quite reasonable, would have been nearer £180 without the discount coupon.

I managed to find the answer about watch check app on Google. Not compatible with Android 15. 🙁

Doesn't seem to be a simple alternative either.

That CW popped up on my Flipboard feed earlier today, and I must say I really like it. I’ve seen a few watches using ceramic lume with crisp, sharp edges, I think Omega use it on a couple of their dive watches, but CW have really upped the ante with this one. Not too sure about the blue, but I do like watches with orange faces, and that colour does make the blocks of lume a bit less obvious.
Titanium case and bracelet, so not too heavy. I like lots of lume, and there’s a little voice whispering “go on, you know you want to…”

A quick random ‘What watch?’ request…

What is a light, affordable, mechanical watch I could look at for riding with in all weathers? My Stowa Verus is on the cusp of being too heavy on a NATO (admittedly on a gravel bike). As is my Archimedes Pilot on a bund.

i have a very old Seiko 5 that does fine, but it’s old and was my grandad’s, so I don’t want to break it. I also have a MWC titanium quartz, which is great, but quartz.

Suggestions welcome. Must be very legible (on the bike and off (as I wear bottle bottom glasses), cheap enough to ride in, mechanical (manual is fine) and relatively fun ?

Otherwise it’s another Swatch…

I agree with ElShal. Baltany. A great range of designs with Q, auto and manual movements. I have two, both under £180 with sapphire.
