If you don’t need the money you may want to hang on Derek, Samurai’s may be having a little value bump in the next few years after Seiko’s recent “new” version is a flop in that regard.  As per the 2019 Arnie re-issue, these could be cult status in a few years.

@derek_starship I quite like that and frankly do miss the one i sold. (Side bar I wonder how many on this thread do this, sell a watch, regret at leisure, then re purchase it again)

If that’s 200 posted sir you have a deal

id say PM me here on STW, but I’m not sure any of the usual STW framework is working at the moment.

just seen krypton’s comment so if you’re holding on - no drama let me know.

Sorry Walowiz! IANAE, these things arnt going to be £1000’s in the next few years just that’s I (and some others) feel that the replacements potentially leave them in cult status further down the line.    As it is today, there’s gazillions on the market and Dereks is a nice example.

Ha ha - having already owned one I’m under no illusions that its future value will be at best maybe as much as I pay now. Maybe 🙂

And that’s ok.

😀

Mirrors eh…. Here’s the full pic. It’s a Pam001, very clean, ETA/Unitas manual.    Stunning condition and less than £3k… Search and Panerai Reg done for authenticity.

I’m a very lucky boy, this was sub £3k.   I’m massively emotional about it, even had wobbly legs opening the box.

Not mine but a friend of mine just acquired a Zodiac See Wolf Chrono:

Worn one then returned by the original owner, my mates paid less than 1/3 of the RRP!

Love the Panerai. Got yourself a relative bargain! Nice heavy brown box?  Spare straps?

Yep fully boxed, Black & Brown leather straps plus the rubber strap all OEM Panerai.

Im sitting watching telly in a state of euphoric disbelief TBH, the weight / feel / quality belies the pics.

In I have to admit, I’m a fan so probably biased….

But I do know what you mean regarding the weight and the feel.

Really glad you’ve got the emotional connection to it!

Jeez, how are you people wearing bulky watches right on the knuckle, or is that just for the photo?

I was concerned for a moment.  The dial didn't look right.

yeah the 001 is the boutique edition right?  And had "Firenze" on the dial.       Those are in the region of £6-£7k I believe.

No idea,  just yours looks like applied numerals,  001 is a sandwich.

Ah.  Actually mine is the hollow dial - the indices are indented into the dial and then filled with lume .

Nicely done Kryton.  That’s not helped my desire for one!

I’m not that sure of all the different models now if I’m honest.  I don’t know how yours is different from a 111, maybe that yours has painted dial and the 111 is a sandwich dial?  I need to do more reading.   I think my preference is for a symmetrical non seconds variant though, but do be fair I’ve never even tried one on.

I quite like the sub seconds dial at 9.  It's a very obvious reminder the first pams were pocket watches with wire 'lugs' soldered on.

Once you do there’s no going back!   I took at look at my mates GMT when we shared a hotel room in May - he left it on the side whilst showing so I had a good look.   I then went to WoS, tried one on and that was it, I was in watch heaven.

Ok watchists, what watch is Mark Foster (ex swimmer presenting the BBC Olympic swimming) wearing?

I’m intrigued, I think blue leather strap and possibly a GMT?

I used to be able to use the website to post pics.  Not sure where I'm going wrong.  Anyway here's my new Tissot Tuning Fork.  Very happy with it!

Yay for being a watch guy.  Just dodged a parking ticket by noticing the warden had a moonwatch on and engaged him in some horological nerdery.

Looking to pull upon the Singletrack watch wisdom please!  Small inheritance from my Uncle last year and want to buy a watch as a memento.  Currently scouring Chrono24, Ebay for a Omega Diver 300 second hand.  Does not have to be perfect as good to see a watch lived.  Bracelet would be nice for smarter occasions, but probably shove on a Nato/rubber strap 90% of the time.

Just want to know the pitfalls, any model or year I should avoid?  Serviced a deal breaker? Papers and box, does it matter? Not buying to retain value, but to use.  Cheapest I have seen is £1,400, most I would probably spend is £3k.  Any help greatly appreciated.

They’re a really solid  watch with great movements.  (Quite) a few of us on here seem to have the 8800 calibre 300m.  I love mine, you might just about squeak a black or blue for the top end of your budget.  I saw a no box/papers for £2500 today, I paid £3400 for a full set white dial a year ago, not sure what prices are doing on them at the moment.

I said in an earlier post I was looking for a black dial diver to replace my CW that I’ve fallen out with.  Well, looking turned into browsing, and browsing turned into me ending up in an A.D…

I’m on the waiting list for a black no date sub by my 50th in a couple of years, so thought I didn’t want a watch box conflict and was offered 25% off this, so I decided to colour my collection up a bit… Marine National FXD Pelagos.

I have to say, IMHO Tudor take the piss with the number of different versions of the same watch they do (what are we up to now, 58 versions of the Black Bay?! ;)) , and with the fawning dribbling coverage they get from the watch press.

But the Pelagos is an absolute killer watch, and in the MN FXD, probably the best version of their best watch

replace my CW

I thought I was there last night after dropping mine onto a tiled floor and hearing pieces of metal bouncing around.  Luckily it was only the buckle and tang on the Zulu diver strap, which I managed to find and reassemble.  No visible damage to the watch.

It really was a slo mo moment of horror though.

hehe... how do you find it? Do you have separate use cases for it and the Pelagos?

The Pelagos 39 is probably the one Tudor that I have a hankering for and reckon I'd really love to have. Fortunately my Sinn U50 kinda prevents me having to worry about it...

It’s easy it’s right next to all the others…. Seriously though, I really like the GMT, it’s a hair top heavy when not on the bracelet due to its thickness, but not so much it bothers me.   I have quite a few watches, some go months without being worn, but I enjoy them when I do.

I tried the Pelagos 39 but found it a bit underwhelming, I think the size and the lack of weight maybe?  I do have 7 1/2” wrist and 39 is really as low as I go.  My Sinn 556, as much as I love it just feels a bit small so doesn’t get worn much,  I’ve got a lot of time for U50’s though, would really like to be able to justify one!

Mine keeps breaking itself, I think it’s a duff movement as it’s been back twice for the same fault and takes 10-12 weeks every time to come back.  Enough is enough.  When it gets back this time it’ll be freshly serviced and polished like new, so it can find a new home.

Well - it's official. I am getting old.

DPD driver knocked on the door at 09:30 this morning and handed over a package from First Class Watches.

What did I do? Put it to one side and cracked on with finish painting the kitchen cupboard doors in Brooklyn grey!

I'll open it early evening and post pics of my NWD.

I'm 55 BTW and I'm not a DIY fanatic. I just wanted to progress the budget update of our kitchen.
