Not knowing what to pay can be really daunting with pre owned. I suggest browse some watch forums, look at the photos and ask.... Get some ideas. If you have the time you can do the research and get an idea of what to look for to not get ripped off and what a fair price/condition balance is. Or you pay for peace of mind and buy from a good jeweller. If you are ever in London then Kayes on the strand always has a good selection of top quality condition vintage watches (omega and others), but at top prices. My local jeweller in crystal palace is a good guy and watch specialist and he has an eBay shop. Although he doesn't list all the vintage watches he gets if you take a look you'll get an idea of the price to expect to pay at a tiny but trustworthy high Street jewellers. I bought my vintage sea master there, nothing too costly, its just a manual stainless, in OK but well patinated condition, movement is in good nick and it was only £300..... Although he seems to be asking more now. Got my mum a 1959 omega ladies, 9 ct case (probably a denison, as omega made gold cases were 18ct, 9ct was uk market). Only paid £300 for that, but then ladies watches are always less than men's preowned.

If I was looking for a watch I'd be buying an Omega Flightmaster - not only a thing of loveliness but an appreciating one at that...

Can spend anywhere between 1.5K and north of 2.5K dependent upon condition, paperwork, dealer etc. Not so long ago you could have bought a decent one for under a grand.

And I've always had a soft spot for Ikepod's though they're not everyone's cup of tea. Currently wearing one of these;

I have a Christopher Ward C11 (recently discontinued, unfortunately!) and a Steinhart Ocean 1 Military (and an old Seiko diver and a Mondaine) and they all make me happy when I look at the time. My 'need' for anything more flash has been abated with this two.
