Renton if you stick to your guns you will probably manage that. Ours was a 58 with 29k on the clock, an se 2.0 rather than the sport model. We dragged nearly 1500 off the forecourt price plus a tank of fuel and mats. If you are good to go you can just walk away until they really want your sale.
Steve,
If you really think the Octavia estate's too small (shame - they're such good cars) then rather than risk Passat or Touran electrical gremlins, try the Seat Altea. Seats seem to be the next best VAG group cars VFM and reliability wise after Skoda.
Mike,
I really liked the octavie and the boot was huge. It was the rear leg room and the white panels on the vrs seats that let it. down.
Currently enquiring about a 57 plate 2.0 tdi sport touran with 55k on the clock for 9.1k
I tried a Seat Altea, it was the previous generation of everything even though it was a 58 rather than the 56 my Passat is. More dated, loads of wind noise from the pillars and the annoying older generation PD engine, the one with all the torque in one spot.
