When my sister died I cheered myself up by buying a VW shirt to wear to her funeral. It was quite an expense for her money pattern cuffs and collar shirt in burgundy. “Vivian” still makes me smile when I wear her. RIP Vivian Westwood.

Anti-establishment when the establisment stinks yet very much a part of the establishment. A curious mix of punk attitude and playing the system. Punk without the nihilism. A lot to like.
I met her in her dotage (about 10-12 years ago). Not sure. Left an indelible mark on fashion and popular culture clearly. But there's a fine line between being an agent provocateur and just being awkward and basically rude..... I'd say she could have just been having an off day, but I was warned beforehand, so clearly she had form for being tricky with 'the little people'.
RIP. Whilst keeping it civil out of respect to her massive cultural impact, convert's post is just the tip of an iceberg; she wasn't the most genial human being or inclusive employer.

I've repeated my post as Dazh clearly misread it first time around. I'd say UK punk wouldn't have been punk as we remember it without Westwood and Mclaren. I was 17 in 1977 and Wiki has it about as I remember it:

"The great rock and roll swindle" didn't exactly hide cynical the use of the genre in sel-promotion and money making.
But the music was great, the fashions were great, and we had a ball - well those of us to exploit the fun part without the nihilism.
