Hi,
My mother-in-law lives in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and has Virgin cable.
I was just making a cup of coffee and noticed the BBC National news end with "and now for the news from your area". I was expecting BBC South-East but saw BBC London instead - hardly local news!!!!
Mother-inlaw says she has commented to Virgin but they say that London is local for her (it most certainly isn't!) and that the local news cannot be changed. She has accepted this for the last 12/18 months but to me, it just sounds a 'fob-off'.
Anyone else experienced anything like this? Anyone managed to get Virgin to change it?
For what it's worth, the main office for BBC South-East is a 10 minute walk from the front door so it is DEFINATELY the local office.
Cheers,
Carl.
AFAIK - all the regions should be there you'll just need to seek it out when the local news is on or something else unique
Not sure if you can then assign it to Ch1 or not though
If you watch the national news (e.g. 6 o'clock news) on BBC1 then you should get your local bulletin afterwards - works for me fine. However, if you watch the 6 o'clock national news on the news 24 channel then you will get the London bulletin. So - she was watching it on BBC1 wasnt she?
Yep, definately watching it on BBC1 - now way she would watch news channels!
What Virgin were saying was that London was the local channel, when it clearly isn't.
We had this when we fist signed up (years ago) London as the local news (we live in Newcastle!). Phoned up, shouted a bit, got fixed. End of problem.
Found this showing the regions and it does seem there is a bit of the London region that goes into Tunbridge Wells for some reason. But It may be wrong. Phone up and don't give in. See what the neighbours think- If Virgin get a number of complaints then that might help.
