The cat's owner, Lee Palmer, says the family was forced to call 911 after the feline scratched their seven-month-old baby, prompting Mr Palmer to kick the animal up the backside.He says this caused the cat to go "over the edge".
A 911 audio recording captured Mr Palmer telling an emergency services dispatcher in Portland his family were trapped by the hostile cat.
"We're trapped in the bedroom - he won't let us out of our door," Mr Palmer said.
