We are having doubts about a cheap run around we recently bought, a Chrysler Ypsilon 2012. I've checked the VIN in the boot but can't find any others (windscreen, door pillar, engine bay). The manual only points you at the boot locations but I've never had a car where is VIN isn't somewhere else? Is this normal on cheap Italian cars? Google not helping as just presenting likely places.
Thereshould be two i think. One on the chassis somewhere physically stamped in the metal ie not removable and one on the weight plate thingy.
As far as i am aware they are the only two that are required by law?
I think they are the Fiat 500/Ford Ka platform.
So I'd look under the boot carpet on the left - that's where it is on them (daughter has one)
Sorry to be that person that copies AI, but it's quicker than me typing it back out.
Gemini says there's 3 locations, none of which are in the boot 😐 :
On a Chrysler Ypsilon 2012 (which shares its platform and build layout with the Fiat Mini platform / Lancia Ypsilon), you can find the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in three primary locations:
- Location: Look at the bottom corner of the windscreen on the driver's side.
- Details: It is stamped on a small metal plate attached to the dashboard and is visible from the outside looking through the glass.
- Location: Open the front passenger door and look at the floorboard.
- Details: Slide the front passenger seat all the way back. There is a small flap cut into the floor carpet or a plastic access trim piece. Lift this flap to view the VIN stamped directly onto the vehicle's metal chassis floorboard.
- Location: Open the driver’s front door.
- Details: Check the inner door jamb/pillar (where the door latches when closed). You will find a black manufacturer's label or plate that lists the car's gross weight data along with the printed 17-digit VIN.
EDIT: ChatGPT also agrees about the one under the passenger seat carpet. It also mentions the boot one.
