I've got a few old VHS tapes I want to convert - what's the cheapest way to do this with a 4yr old Macbook Pro?

Ta!

We use a really simple USB grabber tool - think it was called Video Forever??? Can't recall as it's not at my desk 🙂

You need an analogue to DV convertor which connects by USB or Firewire (or probably something else now). The expensive ones by Canopus are very good. I had a cheapy called a Hollywood Sparkle or something. iMovie reads the input and creates an iMovie project from which you can save to hard-drive, share to iTunes or Apple TV or burn to DVD.

I did a couple of tapes and got bored.

I noticed only this morning that my local record shop does it. Do you have a local record shop?

...are we back in the 80s!? 😀

We have a local copy shop that does it but he's so inept you wouldn't give him your shopping list to copy.

No, we're in East Lancashire so it's between Poundland and Cash Converters.
