Hello everybody. Thought I'd ask here as you lot seem to know a lot about this.

I recently used a Vario-W and it was pretty cool to be able to set the weight for the grind you wanted. I don't seem to be able to find it in stock. Any alternatives to it? Cheaper the better, and it will be for office use.

Programmable settings would be nice, but I'd settle for programmable weight and electric.

Edit: MUST BE IN GRAMS!

By grammes or just a time equating to how many cups?

My cheapish Krups does both coarseness of grind and how much - works well.

Which model do you have? I can't find anything with a gram setting from Krups 🙁

The normal Vario has pretty minimal grind retention. On mine, 18g of beans yields 18g of grinds, or within a few tenths at least. Doesn't fulfil the cheap side of the brief though.

The Forte?

It'll do weight, or convert weight into time for portafilter dosing.

A unique feature of the Forté is the ability to convert a weight preset into a timed value that is accurate within plus or minus .5 grams of the set point. This allows for weight oriented dosing for espresso.

@bob_summers which Vario are you looking at?

@mrblobby the Forte looks pretty awesome, but I'd save £300 and look at the newer Vario model instead. I'm not that bothered about coffee!
