Molly's Lips by the Vaselines?
There'll be some Xcerts that'll do the job but I don't know the name of any of the songs ๐ณ Presumably you've already got some Fannies in there? You could probably get away with using 2 Biffy songs, 27 maybe and something off a new album since they're basically a different band.
Or... How about Marmaduke Duke, Single Ladies? I'd try and recommend some other Marmaduke Duke as I'm a big Biffy fanboy and Sucioperro are OK but sadly MD are s**t
Good shout on Twin Atlantic btw, Lightspeed's just waiting to be used for a really nice mtb vid, it's almost too perfect.
I always want to use some Mull Historical Society but I've never made it work yet. Had a crack with This Is Not Who We Were once but it didn't hang together well.
How about a spot of the dreaded Runrig? They're pretty rotten but Siol Ghoraidh has a nice pedally rhythm to it... An Ubhal As Airde (the one from the Carlsberg ad) makes for a lovely quiet bit, I used it in a motorbike vid once and it was a total joy to work round. Hearts of Olden Glory or Hearthammer would be usable I guess, again Hearts for a seriously laidback bit. Disclaimer: It's my brother that's the Runrig fan, I'm just a passive Runrigger.
King Creosote +1
Can be miserable, but try something from KC Rules OK.
Gun's cover of Cameo's Word up
Good Bye Mr Mckenzie?
Orange juice, Rip it up
Big Country
Smile by Supernaturals?
Ah, Gun, good shout!
Can we sneak in Snow Patrol? Founded in Dundee, based in Glasgow, scottish by all but nationality.
There's a whole selection of stuff from the Red Hot Chili Pipers....
[url=
My Arms - Mylo?
Were Big Country Scottish then, thought most of the band were English born and a Canadian
More Scots in AC/DC I reckon, well the Young brothers were born there and pretty sure Bon was too
Need high tempo beats and contemporary style. If you also want it to sound very Scottish in character: shooglenifty or peatbog faeries.
t t - i know stuart adamson died in hawaii
BA Robertson - Bang Bang?
He did indeed in a hotel room fg, long way from home
i can't youtube at work, but try looking for the shape of things to come by the headboys.
if needs to sound very scottish, have a look for runrig, banks of loch lomond has pipes and stuff so scottish, a dance called america is upbeat musically but is about the clearances so the words aren't very upbeat. some of their gaelic stuff is pretty good - O Cho Meallt from Heartland might be worth a listen
Am I allowed to nominate family members?
Ain't that enough - Teenage Fanclub
or Alcoholiday. Or more or less anything by them really, I'm not picky.
Scotlands finest.
[url=
..Alba is Gaelic for Scotland
[url=
Cho Meallt
Win - You've Got The Power
Or as most folk would know it..
Kinf Creosote is brilliant and Scottish, just not upbeat.
Into the Valley- The skids; quite apt title and bandname if you think about it.
Apologies if I missed it already posted but... [url=
buddy!!
Or for [url=
Were all gonna die by malcom Middleton
And anything by urusei yatsura, their stuff belongs on mtb films!
Pushing it a bit perhaps from your remit, but isn't Jake Black from Alabama 3 from Glasgow?
Bis - Euro disco
uplifting and Scottish with a european flavour, job done
also Macolm Middleton - Fight like the night
quite cheery ...by malcs standards
Ebenezer's Good - The Shaman
(my baby) does good sculptures and Top of the pops - The Rezillos
Aberfeldy ? (with apologies if they aren't actually Scottish, but they are cheery and they sound like they should be Scottish)
Mull Historical Society
Twin Atlantic
Belle and Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap
Modern rock song or lazy line painter Jane by Belle and Sebastian there not particularly jolly but really get going and quite raucus.
Oh bloody hell I forgot about the Beta Band they are cracking.
Why are people still suggesting indie stuff when the OP said he had that sorted? Don't just read the bloody subject please!
[url=
before It was even invented . Classic Minds...
"Folk Song Oblivion" by the Phantom Band would work really well in an MTB film, and I wouldn't consider it as either indie or rock.
Very Scottish. Upbeat. Riff would be good around some jump edits, middle eight would work well around a more flowy section.
Lyrics also apt. That line about "I can't see for the Mountain's Silhouette"...
If you feel like giving an unsigned band some love, this is a chipper wee number.
[url=
Eskimo - Bunny Boiler
Martyn Bennett. Something from Grit - Chanter is on youtube? May not be that easy to get hold of but definetly worth a listen, very scottish and some awesome beats.
Big Country - Fields of Fire
Don't know much about them or their music, but aren't Texas a scottish band
There again Simple Minds had a tune I liked, think it was called "Don't you forget about me
what about the b side to allys tartan army , i want to be a punk rocker but ma mammy wilnae let me - andy cameron.
vienna - ultravox
Far o'er struay by Dolphin Boy would do it for me
How's about [url=
by the Peatbogs?
Ballboy is good but maybe not so suitable for a DH vid.
JESUS & MARY CHAIN!!
Frightened Rabbit, Belle & Sebastian, Arab Strap and We were promised jetpacks (as mentioned before)
Franz Ferdinand? Glasvegas?
There's lots of good scottish bands just now
How about Idlewild - Everyone Says You're So Fragile from the album Hope Is Important?
That would be a great song for a downhill video in my opinion. Good pace, upbeat, and an awesome tune.
If you'd like a wee bit of slightly odd electronica, paying lipservice to hip-hop and radiohead's later offerings, you could do a lot worse than
[url=
The most Scottish that you can possibly get must be.......
Eddi Reader - Willie Stewart/ Mollie Rankin or Charlie is my Darlin
Traditional Music - can't beat it.
