Anyone else get people knocking on the door trying to buy the van off the drive?

I have had 4 now in the last couple of years.

I just assume they are travelers and politely decline.

However, I do now actually need to sell the van and we've just had another driveway offer, the wife got his number.

Mad to even entertain it?

I've seen vans locally with "If you want to sell this van please call..." notices under the wiper. No-one has tried buying mine though.

Obviously, you're a grown adult capable of making your own decisions but, i'd say you'd be as mad as a box of frogs to even consider it.

Apparently there's been a huge spike in the campervan market, I guess as people like the idea of having something ready to go when the lockdown ends, to get away from it all for a while.
Equally there's been a huge spike in campervan purchase-related scams apparently.

So go for it, but be careful!

A guy in a carpark offered to buy my T25 van, I gave him my number. He rang, said he'd have it, came with cash drove it away.
Rubbish really, I wanted to keep it but SWMBO hated it so it had to go.
I think I would be more wary if it had been on my drive

They probably want the Hiace for export, may just need a bit to finish a load. Will probably only offer scrap value.

Export - yes.
I had a Sooty van (Bedford Rascal), it was a wreck, and would never pass the next MOT without loads of welding.
I put it on ebay with a 99p start. Within an hour I had had 3 offers of over £500.
A guy came round the next day and gave me £750, and took it away on a low loader.
He said he bought 'old' style vans, with few electronics, as that is what the people in West Africa wanted, he said he'd sell it for £1500 out there, he could fit 3 or 4 vans in a container, and it was reasonably cheap to ship it, as most containers are empty when they leave the UK, so getting anything in them is a good deal for the shipping Company, rather than taking back an empty container.
