Quick question - cant find out much about it online. Does council tax increase if more than 2 adults are living in a property? I know reductions are available for single adult occupancy but details about a third adult are unclear..ta

It doesn't.

There's a single person discount (there are others for OAPs I think) but that's it.

It's based on two adults sharing. A single person gets a 25% discount. Should it not be 50% discount?

Council tax for dummies was explained to me like this:

Council tax is made up of 2 parts.

1 is the property, 50%

The other is the occupancy 50%

So for only one person you get half the occupancy discount which is why it's 25% plus 50% (property part)

You can then look at second adult rebate and other discounts but basically 2 or more means no discount.
