I think this was 1989: I went to see the Wonderstuff at Glasgow Barrowlands and the support acts were Neds Atomic Dustbin, Jesus Jones and Mega City 4. That was some gig.

The Waiting room - Fugazi.
Freak Scene - Dinosaur Junior.
Surplus People - Radical Dance Faction.
Some of Shelly's hang ups - Blyth Power.

Neds and The Wonder Stuff often played together. Saw them live a few times where they supported each other. PWEI, Neds and the Stuffies were all from Stourbridge IIRC.

The Breeders - Cannonball
Belly - Feed the tree.
Shed Seven - Speak Easy
The Wedding Present - Kennedy/ Brassneck

Edit - So many good tunes i'd forgotten about. Have almost all of these on vinyl with no turntable. I think itunes is going to get raided tonight!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Are we including Yanky indie type rock?

If so I'll get my best cock out and and say I saw Mudhoney twice when they had a lively little support act called Nirvana.

Mossimus, I saw them a couple of months back at the o2 in Glasgow. They played the eight legged groove machine start to finish and then went off, came back and played soem of the later stuff. It really was good. Funny to see all the thirty-something forner indie kids outisde the venue checking their blackberrys and iPhones when 20 years back they'd be smoking a spliff!

Rusty Spanner, Freak Scene is truly one of the greats. Can't beleive I forgot about it.

scruff -
Lucky man. Saw Mudhoney at the International 2 in Manchester - you got Nirvana as a support act, we got some band called Hole, with a gobby female singer called Courtney Love.
Don't remember them being much good!

Ooo, classic STW Oasis haters. Argueably the biggest band of the last 18 or so years, its heyday in the 90's and no mention.

And Fools Gold is wrong. It was the song that prompted John Squire to quit the Roses because he didn't like the direction they were going in and so brought an end to one of the best bands ever. So for that reason, Fools Gold isn't 'the one'. On the flip side, he went on to form the shortlived Seahorses which were excellent.

So the correct answer may be She Bangs The Drums by the Roses but is probably something from Definitely Maybe, Cigarettes & Alchohol maybe?
