It's not looking good for the Dems in the Senate and without that even if Biden wins his ability to enact changes is going to be severely limited, they wouldn't even be able to increase the size of the SOCTUS

might’ve been the One Show. They did a ‘man in the street’ poll, folk chucking coloured balls into a box to vote for Trump / Biden.

Yes, I saw that, the uneducated rubbish coming out of the mouths of some of the people being interviewed was terrifying.

My wife's been saying Trump will win for weeks, I think she may be right.

Surely Trump wouldnt stomp off to court if he thought he was winning?

This is how the map looks at the moment. There are still 20 to 30% of votes still to count in Wi, Mi, and Pa. Those will be postal votes, so they should favour Biden. Whoever wins 2 out of 3 of those states will be the winner (assuming Trump takes Ga, which isn't certain).. Won't know the winner until all the votes are counted, it's probably going to be very close.

He is. He does. He wants the counting stopped, just as everyone predicted. Democracy.

Yeah but in the case of PA, he'll need about 75% of the mail in vote in a state where he is running about 45% in the regular. Not that it can't happen but the odds aren't great.

Trump declared or leading in about 290. It's not looking so good at this point.

Depends what you mean by “winning”… Trump calling early if ahead, and seeking to shut down the election so as not to find out who the eventual winner would be, has been most people’s prediction for a while now… he’s not hidden his plans from anyone.

If they count every vote - Biden stands a good chance.

...but it is really tight

Bernie would have walked this.

Haha.

It has nothing to do with policy, you realise that?

Biden can still win without PA, but needs WI & MI

That's a long shot even with postal votes, especially as Trump is now doing what we knew he would- cheat

What's happened is that Democrats overwhelmingly voted early, so that cannibalized their in-person voting. In Pa, Biden needs about 69% of the remaining 1.7 million votes.

@thols2 - according to https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-results-timing/ it could be a week before the PA result is fully finalised. Of course if one candidate gets an unassailable lead before then it will be declared early.

If it turns out that Trump wins I’m going to eat my own anus and attempt to break the space time continuum.

I’m on Amazon as I speak looking at dental floss.

Feeling peckish yet?

Though if you play your cards right you might get some Grand Cru Medoc to wash it down..

More Americans have voted for Trump than 4 years ago... I’m still trying to get my head around that.

on the other hand more folk have voted for Biden than Clinton and Trump combined 4 years ago.

ive no idea what that means in reality though

Has a president ever lost 2 popular votes and served 2 terms?

Just woken up..who is going to win, or too close to call?

So far the polls appear to have been dead wrong 🙁

It's flip-flopped a few times through the night, 3 hours ago when I woke up Biden was on course to win, then it was too close to call, at the moment, I hate to say it but the momentum appears to be with Trump... but, Trump is spinning his wheels madly. He'd like them to stop counting now, whilst he's ahead, which seems fair and he's actually trying to enforce it.

BBC / Sky are saying it's 220-213 to Biden.
Wall Street Journal and Fox News are saying it's 238-213 to Biden.

But most of the states left to declare are Republican, and I think Biden needs a shock result now.

I don't see how this will be resolved quickly, you'd think it would be as simple as counting all the votes in each state and declaring a winner, but this is America.

Pretty shocking to see that on a ballot, but what does it actually mean? Having the ability to force criminals to work? Ah, it's getting rid of the loophole in the 13th.

It's truly baffling isn't it. There is a sickness at the heart of that country, and democracy in general, frankly. And where they go, we usually follow.

The first time people could claim they didn't know what they were getting, but now....

I'm genuinely going to find the psychological impact of this pretty hard to bear.

And where they go, we usually follow.

We did beat them to it with recent acts of massive national self harm...

I agree with your sentiment entirely though. I was hoping that if Biden smashed it some of the British electorate might get buyers remorse about our pound shop Trump.

Couldn't the same be said about us with our most recent election - Labour did a ^&%$ job then, much like the democrats now - Labour and Democrats only have themselves to blame

How do you engage with people who vote against their own interests?

Not really. They're getting the same choice we had last December...

Would you like your huge shit sandwich on brown or white bread?

I was watching Obama give a speech supporting Biden the other day. It actually had the opposite effect of the one they no doubt intended. You looked at Obama, then you looked at Biden and thought 'christ! is that the best you can come up with?'.

You have to play them at their own game - get a leader who has more charisma than a cult leader for starters.

It's not enough any more to simply be better or honest.
