How do you manage to put any capitals in it, anyway? Only had the option of lower case.

I thought it was a special case for Big Hitters only?

Just curious. They seem to jump out at you in the classifieds section. Not necessarily in a good way though...

Not sure if I got to capitalise the first letter of mine...

Edit- oh good, I did. Would have annoyed me if I couldn't.

Couldn't you, once upon a time, change it completely in your preferences? Or it changed depending upon how you capitalised in when logging in?

Mine is my initials, so it's not en-jee as most people assume, it's N-J-E-E. Caps weren't an option when I signed up way back when though, didn't even try on the post-hack site.

Just had a little look in the profile page, and... well, I want to see how my username appears now (If it has changed, I will also be a real **** for a while).

Edit- oh well. Nothing changing there then.

Never heard of thf restriction either. Given the mixture people use on here there still doesn't seem to be one.

it seems to depend on when you created your account. When I set mine up capitals just seemed to be ignored -so although my profile page has them, and thats how I typed it creating the account, the username as it appears on the forum pages switched everything to lower case. Certainly immediately after the hack that wasn't the case - if you go back to the first post hack thread theres capitals - and now it might not be either - but at sometime in-between the hamsters must have started running out of letraset.

Previously - for a while pre-hack - the usernames weren't case sensitive but they'd show up capitised if that was how you typed your log in for that session

I have thought of putting up a bronze plaque by the front gate reading "Austin Taesche House" or perhaps "Pretinch House"

Whatever your intention, you are en-jee now ๐Ÿ™‚

For some reason mine almost looks like there's a space in there.

Post hack many people seem to manage to get capitals in.

For some reason mine almost looks like there's a space in there.

Not here it doesn't.

Aeons ago someone already had donk so I went with d0nk but capitalised so the zero was less obvious. post hack donk was free but for continuity I stuck with D0NK and yes it does seem a bit shouty TBH, but ostentatious? SRSLY?

Pre-hack names.

Wow - pages were long in those days!

I mentioned above that your user name having capitals depended on how you typed it when you logged in rather than when you created the account - they weren't case sensitive but if you used capitals for that session thats how they presented on the forum. On that thread The Badger appears with and without a capital 'B' at different points down the thread.
