Not going abroad this year but I have got an estate car, two bikes, a daughter (8/9) and an arse pocket full of cash. So what to do.?

We are going for a mooch round London one of the days and will end up in Wales for some biking but I am looking for intersting places to visit inbetween. Stonehenge might get a look in as I have never seen it and thats about it. My mind is blank.

I can think of a great /bike festival happening on August 21st, 22nd with loads of stuff for you and your daughter to do. There will be BBBikes, BBBeer and BBBands there as well as loads of other stuff like pedalos, high ropes course, zip wire, climbing wall.

if your daughter liked merlin or Dr Who, take her to the puzzlewood in the FOD as they used it in various kids tv shows and it's ace. You can then also have a nice family cycle after ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wells-next-to-the-sea carnival is in August

Wells carnival, on the Somerset carnival circuit, is entirely different and is in November:

I live near Stonehenge, and to be honest it's a bit processional now - but if you've never been I guess it's a 'must do' at some point. You usually get a good view from a jam on the 303. A nice long look ๐Ÿ™‚ You could park up at Larkhill and view through binoculars but expect to get moved along by men with guns ๐Ÿ™‚ .. so maybe your best option is to park up and pay.

I'd advise heading up to Avebury afterward for a trawl round the stones, a look at Silbury hill and West Kennet Long Barrow which are a minute away and maybe a family trundle along the Ridgeway (not too exciting, but again, if you've never done it and aren't round this way too often...) then a lovely lunch at Appleby's in Marlborough (note of caution - I am afflicted with vegetarianism.. other flesh vending options are available).
