Looking for some advice...

After 30 mins of chainsaw fun we now have a 18-20 ft conifer that is no more!

However, I'm left with a big stump. Not looking to hire a stump grinder but would like to rot it away. Are there any 'over the counter' type treatments that will actively rot it? Rather than just killing it.

Leaving it is not an option.

Thanks

Nothing actively rots stumps, although some manufacturers make claims that they do. Stumps are decayed by fungi and any strong chemical is going to kill them as well. Most conifer [cypress family] stumps and root systems die when the tree is cut down anyway, so you shouldn't need to treat it with anything to kill it. Most cypresses have fairly durable timber though, depending on the species big ones can take years to decay completely or soften enough to be dug out.

Or just dig it up, be a good work out.

Digging round it with brute force, and constant sawing bits off will take it below soil level.

I've done this for customers on up to 8" trunks, but it is VERY HARD work and takes a while ๐Ÿ˜‰

You'll wait forever for it to rot..

drill it in alot of places and pour diesel or petrol in to holes
Wait a week and repeat. once saoked burn the ****er - it also rots it but not that quick or enviromentally friendly
Quick = dig it out or stump grinder.
