Hello

We've booked a camper van for next Friday to spend a week on the west coast of Scotland; which, at the grand old age of 35, we've yet to see...

We're travelling with our six month old son. My wife has been spooked this week by stories of midges from our friends who do a lot of walking/cycling in Scotland. I don't think they'll be that big a deal on the west coast with the off-sea breezes. What do you reckon? Stick to the plan or head to Wales/Ireland?

Ta

Craig

Ah, okay. So to sit outside with a few beers and the door to the van open is a no-no on a still night then...

I was hoping it was just a bit of over-reaction, the whole midge thing. But then given they don't seem to bite me, I don't think I've ever really given them too much of a thought.

We might head south instead.

We were in a van by Loch Ness the week before last.

Got Midged 1 night out of 3...........the only nice night!

A net and Avon So simply/oh so simple,or something moisturiser works well!

There are thousands upon thousands of laybys and campsites that are situated in places where you will have a breeze and wont get midged. I would stick to the plan.

Used the Avon stuff for the first time over on Arran and I have to say it does work.
