Looking for a 10ft trampoline for the kids, and looking on-line there are some good reviews, and some bad ones of course.
So can anyone recommend a good retailer and a trampoline that lasts well? Doesn't fall apart, enclosure doesn't tear and slide down the poles etc.
Ta
We got ours from Next about 2 years ago and have had no problems at all. The kids love it and never tire from using it.
We've got a Supertramp, it's been amazing value for money as the numbers of kids using it has been phenomenal since July 2008. No issues with any part of it since installed. Got it from John Lewis online and came with DVD and free trampoline lesson with British Trampoline Club.
We bought a 12ft one from The Range, didn't bother with enclosure as we'd rather they get used to the idea of risk. Due a new spring cover now (4 yrs? old), but otherwise still going strong and in use everyday.
we got a jumpking (I think largest manufacturer globally) with a enclosure that fits inside the springs, hence the best for safety. It has definitely been used more than anything else we've bought. Very well built.
Midlifecrashes - I hope you are joking ot talk to a paediatric orthopedics surgeon.
Nope, not joking. They need to know that if you mess around at the edge of a vertical drop, they might fall off, and that might hurt. I already have talked to a paediatric orthopedics surgeon when George decided it would be a good idea to bounce from feet up into the air and over to bounce on his hands resulting in a radial head fracture at the elbow. They had been warned not to land on hands or heads, and why. Never had an injury relating to falling off though. They know there's a drop there and act accordingly. The spring cover is held together with gaffer tape, but still does it's job.
We don't have any barriers around the trees in our garden. Should I rectify this in case a child climbs up one and fall off, or should I just insist that they all wear a helmet?
We use Jumpking too still fine after 2yrs hard use. I like the edge enclosure for my kids. Helps train them to stay in the middle!! Even our 2yr old enjoys the trampoline!
midlifecrashes - one word accidents. They might know not to land on their heads but for instance the accident when someone else jumps up and they are catapulted off the trampoline without intending too and they land on their head has little to do with percieved risk.
I perfectly understand risk and so does my saon. He's seen dad's broken collar bone this summer and he's seen broken bones in football. But not putting in place a reasonable safety precaution, with possibly serious adverse consequences, when you can, seems biazarre to me. Each to their own though.
I support Tonyg2003 on this, but each to his own.
I would not be happy knowing that I could easily have prevented common accidents. If you get a number of kids on trampolines it can be dangerous.. I know lots of things are risky, but small kids are often unaware of any risk...
I think it could be a steep learning curve!
I wouldnt let my little ones on a trampoline without netting, or "spotters" etc.
Ours is from Costco, expensive but top quality.
full suspension!
