Hi all,
My wife and I are thinking about buying a trailer tent , it will be a 2nd hand one due to budget of £1k and would need to be reasonably small due to storage in the garage.any recommendations would be appreciated and anything to look out for when viewing would be helpful .
Thanks
I had a Trigano one and to be honest never got on with it.Folding out the 2 double beds from the trailer body was easy but putting the awning up was a bind. You needed the awning up to put the kitchen unit in.Lots of pegging out to do.
The best ones are the Camplets but you won't get a good one for your budget.
Personally i'd buy a s/h camping trailer like an Erde, then a good quality roomy tent. You would still need to buy some camping equipment but that would be the same as the trailer tent.
Seen the camp lets and would push the budget up a bit to get one but still probably couldn't afford one. Been looking at a cabanon Venus on an auction site , from what I can gather they are a good brand and I'm waiting for more pics before deciding wether or not to travel to see it.
We got a Trigano last year too. Used it 4 times in a year, including 2 weeks in Dorset. Great to stay in put painful to put up awning. If the time came again would probably go for an empty trailer and separate tent. Poss an inflatable poled job.
Having said that, no air bed or canvas camp bed will be as comfy as the slatted bases built into the trailer tent. It'd take a lot to beat the kitchen too.
So, if you're staying put for a bit, get a Trigano. If not, get separates.
Try to find a folding camper rather than a trailer tent much faster to pitch so will get more use you should be able to get a Pennine fiesta or possibly a Pullman for your budget. No real problems with either just make sure it does not smell damp and the floor does not feel spongy. once you get it put it up give it a good wash with tent cleaner, followed by a couple of coats of fabrisil and it will be good to go.
Thanks for the replies, we already have a trailer and have 3 tents for every occasion but my wife wants a bit more comfort. I'd be happy with one of the new air beam tents personally . The pennine looks like it would be much to big to keep in the garage unfortunately .
