The Life of Planets
The Life of Birds
The Life of Mammals
The Living Planet
Life in Cold Blood
"Thunderbirds" should be in there too. Have you all forgotten yer youth? Good to see, at least, the talent of Anderson making one list. ("Captain Scarlet" is up there.)
The Singing Detective - most Dennis Potter stuff was brilliant; like nothing else that had been on TV.
I also love stuff where catchphrases, or quotes stay with you - I still say "It were Mark Binney, miss!"
Where do these come from:
1. "Where we goin now?" in Brummy accent, or was it North East?
2. "Play with me Daddy" in erm, Manc, was it?
3. "At your age? At my age? Young man!"
4. "Who pushed air though poo?!"
Or being more serious:
Planet Earth
Life, Frozen Planet or Blue Planet, don't make me decide which
Black Adder
Blue Peter
Flight of the Concords
The Last Leg (but only the first 2 series)
Red Dwarf to series 6
Scrubs

Ski Sunday
No mention of Soap! or Frazer. Quite fond of Cheers too.
Tour of Duty
Father Ted.
Hell on Wheels
Band of Brothers
The Wire
Sopranos
The Shield
Breaking bad
MASH
The 2-3 series of 24
Cheers, good call, this still makes me laugh...

1. "Where we goin now?" in Brummy accent, or was it North East?
Aaaargh!
North East, can picture the fella.
"L.I.V.E.R.P.double O .L Liverpool FC"... man, that was brilliant too!
Blue Peter
Top of the Pops (before MTV or any such like was invented)
Northern Exposure
X Files
Heros
Friends
All of Star Trek
Spaced
Alan Partidge
North East, can picture the fella.
The Machine Gunners.
The book is way better than the TV series.
The Machine Gunners.
Yep, I read it when I was a kid. Great book. Series was good too.
Grand designs
I have the winner.....
Chocky
Forgot about Harry Hill's TV Burp.
Probably the most paused-because-we-are-laughing-so-much show ever.
Chorlton and the Wheelies
The Wire
<umm ... thinks ...>
NYPD Blue
<thinks a bit more ...>
Breaking Bad
The Killing - obviously
The Bridge - while we're on a Scandi thing
Brookside - for a bit, anyway
The Simpsons
<err ... >
Game Of Thrones
Rick And Morty
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Firefly
Black Sails
The Expanse
Breaking Bad
Band of Brothers
Spaced
X-Files
Frasier, yes!
GBH
Was brilliant, I haven't watched it since it was actually broadcast, however I have found it on itunes for 5.99, so it is now downloading ๐
It will be interesting to see if it has stood the test of time, I think it probably will, but the scripting and slickness of some big budget series over the past 10-15 years has really upped the game and expectations.
For me, hands down winner is the Man in the High Castle.
As for sitcoms - Yes Minister obvs. Head and shoulders above.
OK as no-one's playing ๐
[s]1. "Where we goin now?" in Brummy accent, or was it North East?[/s]
2. "Play with me Daddy" in erm, Manc, was it? Alan Bleasedale's GBH (with Robert Lindsay)
3. "At your age? At my age? Young man!" Harry Enfield's randy old ladies
4. "Who pushed air though poo?!" McKenzie Crook's gym teacher in Barking
then there was Cracker.
(and the Shield!)
In no order,
The Wire
True Detective (S1)
Life on Mars
The Bridge
MASH
Generation Kill
Borgen

Monkey.
Grange Hill?
No
Minder
Bod
Randall and hopkirk (deceased)
Terrorhawks
"L.I.V.E.R.P.double O .L Liverpool FC"... man, that was brilliant too!
I'm not much of a tv watcher now but that's probably the most hard-hitting telly I've seen.
(as an aside)
Looking at the OP's No. 1...Madmen. I finally caught up with this and watched the whole shebang. Never have I watched anything that had so many loose ends in the story line that never got tied. Was a bit weird. Still loved it though, in a funny sort of way.
anyway, my ten:
Breaking Bad
Pride & Prejudice (Jennifer Elle version)
Poldark (Eleanor Tomlinson version)
Fawlty Towers
