Ah, Wendy James.
I'll be in my bunk.
Don't forget Kim
I was enjoying the fact that there wasn't any stock, aiken or waterman tunes.
I so want to add a 1979 track, I never bought until 1980.....sod it I'm sneaking this one in.
Paul Buchanan, one of the 80s greats
I heard this on the speakers at IKEA a while ago, and was pleasantly surprised with the memory.
The video is a bit 'Eyes Wide Shut'-ish.
And of course, this may have been one of the best tunes of the decade!
Toto Africa! You're not having that - no way 🙂 It contains the single worst lyric in the history of popular music FFS.
“I know that I must do what’s right/ As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Seeeeeh
rengeti”
Great blasts from the pasts chaps. Just blasting out Ghost on the big TV think it's Blue Nike next
Quiet Life Japan what a tune
No smiths yet?

Echo and the Bunnymen, "the killing moon"
Cool thread.
Due to the lack of names and titles to go with the videos on many of these, and not having had time to explore them, often the case with these threads, I'm not sure about posting anything and double-posting, so it'll be a while...
However, I saw Yazoo play Golddiggers in Chippenham on their first tour, and what I think might have been only the second date, and when Alf walked on stage it was a classic rabbit-in-the-headlights moment - the poor girl looked absolutely terrified! It was a good gig, though, she's got a superb voice.
So many good tunes above.
Lets dance, any police track, Duran Duran

THis was on in the Coop a couple of weeks ago; Shazam'd it.
Terry Wogan played this on radio 2 a couple of weeks ago. Was on my way to site, so stuck a note in my phone so I'd remember to google who it was when I was back in the office. Another banger.
This is absolutely class, sadly he died earlier this week.
This is probably one of my top ten fave songs. If you're ever feeling a bit low, give it a listen; works best with the video.
and that's not duplicating the above. there're a LOT of good tunes that buck the shitn 80's stereotype
If we're going to do this, let's do it properly:
Shame thread started with Howard Jones. I bloody hated Howard Jones. And Nick Hayward. Barf.

Wat no Hall & Oates.
Echo and the Bunnymen.
Def Leppard, Animal.. yeahhhhhh.
Some people need to think about their definitions of pop.
Most of the 80s sound are still rather clear in my head but they don't do give me lasting impression as the following two:
Released 1980 in ABBA final album.
Super Trouper
Also the last recording of the voice of angle which I found out recently.
Karen Carpenter. A sad day for me when she died.
Others that give me some good impressions are:
Bee Gees.
Fleetwood Mac.
Blondie.
They all have sad stories ...
And, of course, the poppiest of all.

Say what, now?
Can't believe nobody's posted up one of the most remarkable singles ever to reach number one!
New Order - World In Motion - wasn't that the official Eng-er-land song for Italia '90 ? complete with John Barnes rapping
