Anyone done this run recently? I'm just doing some numbers for a July trip. Going in a diesel galaxy so any ideas on fuel would be welcome too. Apparently we can expect 45ish maybe a touch more on a run.

Thanks

I'd say you're looking at around 50 euros each way give or take for tolls. We went to the Ardeche last year and I seem to remember it was about that.

Diesel was cheaper in France (less than unleaded) than it was here but is expensive on the Autoroutes, so you should fill up when you can in the Supermarkets as it can be 20cents cheaper per litre. Not sure how much prices have gone up since last September though.

I think we clocked up about 2000 miles in total, and we have a petrol car so fuel is a big consideration. Still preferable to flying for us though.

Unless the charges have changed much in the last year or two, it was about 60 quid each way when we went. We came back on the A roads to avoid the cost and found a world of interest and better views off the motorway.

Thanks that's really useful. We figured around that sort of cost so it's good to hear.

We've always driven from Zeebrugge and tolls were about €60 or €70.

If time isn't crucial, you can save quite a bit of money by going through Belgium and Luxembourg - no tolls until you get to Metz. Luxembourg is also the home to cheap diesel - IIRC was just under €1 a litre when it was €1.30 in France. France is about on a par with the UK for fuel. If you have time and tee it up so the tank is empty in Luxembourg it can save a decent amount of money.
