and that's why Test Cricket must always be the preeminent form of the game...

Indeed. Proper cricket. So good to watch two excellent teams go at it.

Fantastic day's play, amazing effort from Broad again - without him this match would have been over long ago. Great innings from Dravid too.

Good morning everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

What will today's play bring. Will England score 300? Will in India have a case of less than 150? Will pieterson ever catch a cricket ball again? Questions questions

I'd like a quiet first half hour please, rather hungover and waiting for my bacon buttie to arrive and the ibuprofen to kick in.

Very finely poised at the moment isn't it. Just one good innings or bowling performance could send it either way again.

Ooh an unsporting incident that will tarnish the rest of the series.
That is just not cricket

Worst bit of poor sportsmanship I've ever seen, as close to cheating as you can get...........

Oooo... what a **** up from Bell... agreed possibly not 'in the spirit of the game' from India, but very careless from Bell...

A bit of spice added to the series ๐Ÿ™‚ Claimed that the umpires visited the Indian dressing room asking if they wanted to withdraw their review, and Dhoni said no ๐Ÿ˜† Shame as it was a cracking innings for Bell

Just got in and heard TMS on the subject, but not as it actually happened.

Bell's back in!
WOOOOO!

Good form, India, good form! Well done them.

Big pat on the back for Dhoni there, nice to see the spirit of the game coming through. Sounded a right old mix up though! Like to think Strauss would've done the same as well. Intriguing test so far!

Borrocks should he. Took a visit to the Indian dressing room by Strauss/Flower to get the Indians to reconsider.

Wheels coming off the innings a little with the new ball having been taken. Decent lead, though.

I reckon a quick bash from Trott, may at 7, maybe let Broad open his shoulders for a few and then put them in tonight with a few overs before the close

Disagree. Bat on and on and on. Still got over 2 days. Would like to see the lower order all chipping in and setting India a target of 400 plus around 2.30pm tomorrow.

+1. With England one up in the series, the priority is not to lose this one.

๐Ÿ™‚ never mind captain.

Superb performance from England today, 400 plus runs. I dozed off on the sofa for an hour and bresnan and prior smashed a hundred runs between them ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Reckon Strauss will want 500 ahead before bowling. So what, half 12 tomorrow?

400 plus by 2.30 :?, as the they already have a lead of 374 shouldn't that be 11.30 ?

Would the Aussies have reinstated Bell?

I think dravid's just covered it nicely on the highlights.

Im not sure "reinstatement" is the question, I think probably it's "would [another] team have tried stumping in that manner?"

Ausies have done all sorts of sneaky / nasty stuff over the years. From the dreaded underarm ball in the one day final to a run out at the bowlers end to claiming catches with a foot over the rope

England haven't always played by the 'spirit of the game' either....

"In 1974 West Indies batsman Alvin Kallicharan was run out by England captain Tony Greig in Port-of-Spain.
Kallicharan was walking back to the dressing room thinking the first day was over when Greig removed the bails.
A furious Kallicharan broke his bat in two and the crowd's reaction was so heated that he was reinstated the following morning after government intervention."

And more recently......

"In a one day international with New Zealand in 2008, England's then captain Paul Collingwood attracted severe criticism for refusing to reinstate Grant Elliott.
Elliott had been run out by Kevin Pietersen after a collision with Ryan Sidebottom and Collingwood chose not to withdraw his appeal, even after the umpire Mark Benson asked him to reconsider."

In fairness, Colly himself later said he thought he had got it wrong and regretted it but it seemed the right decision at the time.

He didn't have the benefit of tea to think it over......

tough one for India to win from this stage even though they are a great team.
England 2-0 up and No1 in the world IMHO
