Oooh BBC are just following the plane landing, you'd think she'd exited the building already.

Remind me when the queen has ever interfered with the democratic process? Genuine question

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/feb/07/revealed-queen-lobbied-for-change-in-law-to-hide-her-private-wealth

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jun/27/queen-secret-influence-laws-revealed-scottish-government-memo

Also raptors are routinly killed on the balmoral estate and the police have to ask her if they can investigate which is refused routinely .

I’d look to Ireland for a reasonable why to handle not having a Monarch. But how about we don’t do this now?

...are you new here!?

you have to wonder why she hasn’t been taken to hospital, sure the RAF could spare a helicopter or 2 ?

My guess is she knows she is dying and refused. Whats the point?

most workplaces have a limit on the number of employees on a single plane or in a car etc

is that true? Never heard that one before.

Damn right, I've never been the same since we went to a trade show in Amsterdam and got shitfaced and five of us tried to pile into a taxi and I accidentally fisted Fat John, I can still feel that clammy wet feeling, try not to eat finger food with my left hand anymore.

Protecting a nonce. Interfering in the democratic pricess. Hoarding wealth

Remind me when the queen has ever interfered with the democratic process? Genuine question

Whilst you're there, remind me when the queen has ever protected someone who interfered sexually with prepubescents?

Just a 1000 or so times…

"vetted" is not synonymous with "vetoed".

So how many time out of those did she intervene and Stop the laws being passed?

Tj, I wouldn’t call that interfering with the democratic process. I’d call that using her influence to get her own way. In exactly the same way most overly rich and overly privileged people do. I’m not suggesting for a minute that’s correct, nor that I support the monarchy (the concept is ridiculous)

Technically I believe she could veto pretty much any law passed by government via royal consent, yet I can’t remember a time she ever has. Can you?

The guardian investigation threw up many instances. The raptor killings is also a clear example if ignoring the law

According to the article 4, and even then, she lobbied [her MPs] for changes which may or may not have been made and, you know, under a democratic system, is exactly what we're all supposed to do if we don't like for instance; the police, crime, sentencing and courts bill.

Im not going to debate her proven frequent interference in laws and ignoring criminality any more here. Start another thread if you want to debate it.

It will just end up with a fight on here

No it doesn’t it says she reviewed them, how many times did she stop them coming into being or changed them in any way? You don’t know, neither do I

As for lobbying, yes she’s entitled to lobby for changes in the law that affect her. As are you and I.

Anyway, not going to derail this thread arguing the technicalities of it with you. We’ll just have to disagree on this one

Edit..just saw your response. Agreed let’s not ruin this thread!

Shame that Her Majesty's constabulary are so selective with how their resources are dedicated...

I think this every time an ancient royal dies. If my mother and grandparents had that level of health care then they'd maybe still be around. My grandparents would be roughly the same age as her and have been dead for decades.

Sorry, carry on with the mourning.

she has been a credit to this country and humanity IMO.

Protecting a nonce. Interfering in the democratic pricess. Hoarding wealth

I'm not sure on what's inevitably going to end up as an obituary/eulogy/condolences thread that this is the sort of "blatant falsehoods" to be correcting.

No "blatant falsehoods” had been made when TJ decided to wade into the thread.

Someone gave their opinion which they confirmed was their opinion by adding IMO.

And there's me thinking she was just pulling a sickie to swerve a visit from Megan 😉

Hope she pulls thru,or it’s going to be a wall to wall sycophantic outpouring competition.

Christ, listening to Huw and Nick rattling on is very draining. Switching over to BBC2 , the Bidding room is on

Wychall’s in depressingly sombre mood.

Just upset he's not been invited in to watch her demise, Ghoulish man

As i understand it – when the death of a monarch is announced – all work places close and everyone is sent home.

My old boss couldn't understand why someone wanted to go home when he got a call to say his Daughter was about to give birth. His exact words were "why do you need to be there, you're not a midwide are you ?"

they took separate private jets. Ridiculous.

Do you actually think about what you are trying to say before typing it ?

"Hope she pulls through" to what end? She's 96, dying peacefully at home after a long and healthy life is a fate many would envy.

is that true? Never heard that one before.

Big thing in some industries. Been impacted by it twice. Once flying with 3 colleagues to germany, between us we were the entire departments technical specialists, would have taken years to replace us.

HR gave us a right reaming when we got back, on the same flight, again, having driven to and from the airport in the same car...

When was the last time a monarch died? Have there been any relevant changes in legislation since then?

I'm concerned about Addie's weight, if he carries on like that I can't see him making it to another series.

Yes the Queen has had a privileged life, with the trappings of wealth and the best health care. However I have liked her a lot and I think covid has finished her off.
However I think she's worked quite hard all her life and put her country first.

Good luck to Charles as he's going to need it. The thought of someone such as Boris being head of state, fills me with dread.

51 mins into Home Time with Bush and Ritchie on Absolute Radio and its just music and ads without them adding their chat / humour / banter.

I sense that an announcement is imminent. "We interrupt this transmission, etc etc..."

I hope so. Back then shops and things were shut on Sundays out of respect for the death of the illigitemate son of a ficticious omnipotent deity.
