Am I the only one that loves it?
Over the last week or so, we've been sledging, building snow mountains in the garden, skiing in Halifax of all places. Even mtbing up to our knees.
Today I pulled my 6 year old nephew a full mile on the pavements by sledge without stopping, to get to the local slope.
Yes it's slippery, yes it's cold, surely this is how winters are supposed to be?
+1
i agree.......
and it kill bugs too.. 😉
It's ace.
I love it, though have none here 😡
aye I went for a run tonight and it was great to see so many families out having fun in the snow. I made a snow man with my wife on New Years day, great fun!
Yep....went sledging at midnight last night with my girlfriend and son....was fantastic 😀
and it kill bugs too.
and old people....
Snow's fine if I can stay at home but driving in it is a PITA and I have to do a lot of that - nearly got stuck in Rickmansworth the other week.....
Agree mudshark it's a bind for people who have to be out on the road. Recreationally though it's the tops.
Did you hear about the guests in the 'highest pub in England' ( can't remember where) being stranded since New Years eve. I think they finally started to dig their way out today. The landlord kindly only charged £10 per night for the stay over.

+2 😉
That's Tan Hill, Bunnyhop (I can ride there from my house). A few of the guests at the Dales Bike Centre New Year bash just down the road were also stranded.
I love it. We've had more today and more due tomorrow - ace! (Though I just remembered the chickens haven't been put away and they're 200+ feet of snow and ice away from the house.)
kindly only charged £10 per night
doubtless any 'losses' incurred were offset by bar takings!

You need one of them auto pop-door opener/closers........ bleedin brilliant 🙂

Love it too,but must live in the only part of UK that's had bugger all 😥
100% great 🙂 .
For once we've got a proper "season!"
None in Essex yet !!!!!!!!!! 🙁 still love it
we've had fk all snow in staffordshire and i'm not happy about it.
Snow is great! just not the stuff we have been getting in birmingham, first it snows then melts then soddin freezes into black ice and it just becomes daft.
Would be nice to get a few feet of proper snow, instead of snow one day, freeze, rain then its all gone and snows again!
I've had enough of it now. thank you
The wife put them away earlier 🙂
I've seen the auto openers before, but they're a bit pricey. Also, they live in a converted tack room, with a proper door, not a slidey one.
Halifax of all places.
Dont know whether to take umbrage with that!!! I'm assuming you mean it's the last place you'd expect skiing to occur???
Burger all here yet - just ice. Fingers crossed for Tuesday when I'm due back at work.
I'm having a cracking time- I've been out running every day and seen the area looking stunning in the snow. Fun riding, fun sledging, plenty of adventures. It's been an excellent 2 weeks.
nope, its harder to bike in. was fun the first few days of sledging, now its been here for weeks im getting annoyed.
Obviously a Barrat igloo
Only snow down here is from when i shake out my sheets.
My old man said they had 15-20cm in leek last night but i'am at my sisters in Cheshire and it's just very icy here

You could add a pop door to the tack room door and the opener would do that one.
Although pricey I think they're worth every penny as you can pretty much leave the chickens to it. I've got a feeder and drinker that does them for 3 weeks and we've left them for two weeks with just the father in law popping in every other day to collect eggs.
A mate has had two lots of 6 chicken killed by the fox in the last 12 months but he doesn't close the door (or sometimes forgets) - it's cost him the same amount in replacing the chickens as a door opener!
As for the snow..... it's brilliant but as stated up there ^, there's just ice in Cheshire, but it's better than rain 🙂
Also when you're done with them they fetch nearly the new price on ebay 🙂
I like!
😆
The snow was great. Except that it all froze solid over a week ago and has gradually been getting smoother and smoother making pavements and paths everywhere very hairy to cycle or even walk on.
i love snow...
unfortunately i'll have spent 10 days without snow during this snowy period as i must be in about the only place in the uk without it. its bloody annoying!!!
thing is, if we had snow here we could feasibly go out and play in it. instead we decided to go riding - but of course, to get to the riding you have to drive (its also very flat here). where the decent riding is is also lots of snow, so we couldn't even get there today.
so no riding, and no snow play (the roads were ice as opposed to snow.
i'm frustrated.
fortunately we're heading back to fife on tuesday, so hopefully still some snow about!!
You can Ski in Halifax everyday at the dry ski slope at Ploughcroft
I've got a feeder and drinker that does them for 3 weeks and we've left them for two weeks with just the father in law popping in every other day to collect eggs.
I have a large drinker and feeder but the drinker freezes in this weather; need some sort of battery powered heater to go in the water.
Our snow is all but gone now, which is a shame... it's absolutely freezing though!
They were saying that there is a good bit of snow up on the fells though, up to 1m in places... if I had got around to buying some skis I could have gone up and tried the ski runs in the Lakes this week! Suppose I best go and do some work instead!
No bloody snow in Portsmouth.
I'm sick of it
it started on 17th Dec & hasn't managed to thaw before the next lot gets dumped on it
The pavements & minor roads are just 2" thick solid ice, running in cross country spikes has been fun but I wouldn't mind getting back out on a bike this side of Easter
Had an 'interesting' ride in today. Climbing up the 3" ice walls to get out of wheel ruts was 'fun'.
I saw a few going to work earlier this morning on bikes - crazy!
I'm getting far too old to handle the sort of falls that icy roads give you 🙂
I just took it slowly. I can get most of the way in through snowy parks and nature reserves, so not too many icy roads to deal with.
Wish it would snow here in the midlands (just south of brum), what bit we had before xmas was washed away by rain on xmas night 🙁
I spent 26, 27, 29, 30 in Dalby Forest.
What should have been a fitness training session each day turned into a skills session in the snow!
Excellent!
Here in Watford, it's as cold as a witches nipple, -5 at 07:30 on my decking. Took some love;y pics this morning over the fields.
However, I can't cope with more than about 100 minutes of riding in this weather as my feet become blocks of ice - it's better in the woods, but it's my frozen feet that make me shorten my rides when it's below 2.5 degrees.
Snow's ace... it's the Ice that's the bugger for me....
The Doog, yes I did mean it was unusual to ski ( in snow) in Halifax 🙂
For half the country that hasn't had snow yet, it appears to be heading your way.
