Forget your GAP jeans, the Chris King headset, the finest Swiss chocolate, the only thing that needs to be purchased this winter is: The humble water bottle.
Its light weight (ours has travelled to many countries) does the job and isn't expensive.
I love it so much, that one isn't enough. Off at the weekend to buy another.
Oh and its got a name - Walter (hottle bottle).

Top tip for winter campers who've bought a cheap winter sleeping bag and realised too late that you get what you pay for. Heat a pan of water, put hot water into your drinking water bottle, stick it into your sh1t cheap winter sleeping bag, hey presto, a hot water bottle*. The next morning you already have your drinking water bottle filled and ready to go. 8)
(* you may have to reheat the water several times during the night )
