Looks a lot like the Honda DN-01 (i think that's what it's called).

Fugly.

I won't be trading in my Vmax for one of those.......

Oh, petrol (chemical), to electricity, to battery (back to chemical), to electricity, to drive. That seems efficient, and all to allow a tiny bit of regenerative braking? I mean, how much can you tap off the back wheel without affecting the handling? Brake hard and most of the weight on the front surely?
If the production one is a subdued version of the picture as it suggests it seems a little pointless.
Mind you, I still hanker after a C90 and it's wild fuel economy, bet it blows this away and you can still service it yourself 🙂

It is efficient in car terms, as Toyota showed. The only energy that goes into the battery is what would've been wasted in the brakes...

But ANYWAY - they're not doing it for the fuel efficiency, they're doing it for performance and power management. Having driven the same thing in a car I can testify that it's super smooth and great to drive. Basically in a bike you would have supreme control over power which would probably make it a lot easier to hammer smoothly.

Yes, exactly - it's just a fast bike.
Nothing pointless, no new and unreliable technology, just a neat thing that goes from a to b at sub-warp speed and handles more like a motorbike than a tanker. Which is why I got my licence.

A fast bike is just as pointless as a cool bike mate, don't kid yourself 🙂

Don't actually ride a motorbike, do you?

Aha - don't know what you're talking about, but got an opinion anyway - you are RudeBoy and I claim my Wiggle voucher

My point was, you ride fast bikes because you like them. I would ride that because I like fancy tech. They are both equally a matter of taste. So you can't call a techy concept bike more pointless. Likewise for extravagant custom choppers and the like.

grahams - no, it's the aprilia rst futura, v-twin, 1000cc, engine from the rsv mille.
goes well, comfy as **** but the plastics are ridiculously expensive (as i found out after an incident involving a cattle grid in the rain). Probably the most underrated second hand bike you can find.

On a more practical note, this would be very nice

[img] [/img]

.. but typically expensive in a germanic manner...

Tried a couple of these a few summers ago - sounded lovely, and cheaper than most good mtbs...
