Brazing. Specifically, when fillet brazing, getting in the rhythm of perfect temperature and brass flow, and the brass fillets just stack up perfectly...

The brief silence you get as you pop a jump or drop on a really nice bit of singletrack.

Having my dog curled up sleeping next to me on the sofa on a Saturday afternoon when I've nothing better to do than nap and read.

BBQ on a warm summers day with the kids playing in the garden.

Sleeping outside on the trail, the more outside the better bivi>tarp>tent>car.

Swiming in lakes first thing in the morning while it's misty, especialy after the above, and preceeding a mahoosive fry-up on the shore (why else does thick cut bacon come in packs of 6 if not to be eaten in one sitting?).

I also love the sound and feel of old medium format cameras, I have a Bronica SQA that I hang on to solely for the feel of it.

The smell of my cat when he's asleep (his neck is the best).

The wind. Has to be a dark evening with a blustery, warmish wind. Reminds me of childhood.

A certain perfume worn by a girl I went out with. I get a whiff of it occasionally and it takes me right back. Gives me the horn too.

Mashed potato.

From my biking days, the anticipation and excitement as the bike is warming up while donning helmet and gloves then the snick into first gear.
Also rolling off the ferry onto Douglas prom at the start of TT week.

Lyons fresh ground 'Gourmet Italian' coffee. Even better because it cost me £1 from my local pound shop.
Lovely.......especially with whiskey in it!

My first cup of perfect strong hot expresso mid-morning

Comming home in the evenings to my house on top of a hill with the view, the still air and the silence. can't bring myself indoors on those days.

Listening to Pink Floyd full pelt (as I am now)

the elation that last the rest of the day after a really good hard ride.

I kind of get the impression that a few people missed/ignored this bit from the OP:

[i]That, in essence, shouldn't be so satisfying..

In that case... the "pop" that you get when you open a new jar of pesto.

On the subject of "pop", going wake to wake on buttery smooth tropical waters.
And, getting a perfect toe edge way out wide, one handed, low to the water.
Freewheeling a bike. Any bike, any place, any time. Freewheeling along is AWSUMZ

The car starting, and keeping on going. It always does, which, when you think about it, is pretty amazing. Think of all the development, all the bits that were designed and tested over the years.

This crosses my mind pretty often when I start the engine.

What a saddo!

Well in that case, this special kind of frozen mud- not as boggy as normal mud and offers a satisfying crunch as you pass over it.
I'm strange like that 😉

Lining up the ruler perfectly against the crop marks on artwork, then running a scalpel down it.

Really oddly satisfying, that, no idea why. Sadly, I no longer have the opportunity to do it. 🙁
