They say personal use is in decline, but it still acts as the main user authentication tool for the web. I know you can log-in to a lot of places now with your social media, but it's not always easy.
Oddly I was searching through my Rocketmail account the other day to find something or other and found a load of personal e-mails I sent / had about organising a riding holiday from 2011 - I think that was probably the last time I used e-mail for personal stuff. Eveything is whatsapp now.
