[Closed] There’s a ghost in my house

Set up a Go Pro!

When my daughter was very young she would stare past you and look into hall, we had a 12 pane glass door, and watch intensely. Later when she was a bit older she mentioned the man out there.

That was the last house, our current one, there is someone contantly closing the bin in the kitchen and occasionally moves my house keys when lying on floor next to our bed.

Always just say Thanks, never bothers me or family.

You have problems with something/someone opening a door. How about leaving it open, you then don't need to worry about it being opened. If it is a ghost, it wants the door open not closed, why upset it? If the door then starts being closed, then worry, lots... 😯

Why aren't there caveman ghosts?
Or cow ghosts?
Or ant ghosts?

Maybe there are. Caveman ghosts would be in caves, cow ghosts would be inthe fields and you probably just can't see the ant ghosts.

So ghosts travel the void between life and death just to open a door or move a remote or knock a cup over?
If they're so pissed off about whatever pain or injustice they've suffered why don't they leave a note saying 'thingy is a ****' or 'I'm really pissed off about wotsisname'
If they can open a door or move things around they can leave something a bit more to the point written in dust or suchlike...
Why not leave a camera running one night and see for yourself?

I'm going to wire the latch up so that whatever it is can go about its business quietly.

The house has a warm feel about it. When we viewed it 5 years ago it was only because we were also looking at one just up the road, yet we both decided that we wanted this one before we got throught the front door.

Also. Things fall off shelves. A lot.

Good news is your local diy store will sell a thing called a spirit level.
Now, this wont confirm the number of ghosties in your house but it will almost certainly help with the above.

Spirit level? Does that check how wobbly the ghost is?

As kids we once slept in a tent in the middle of a large graveyard in Halifax.

It was the best nights sleep I'd had for a while- i.e no noise 😆 funnily enough and you'd think there'd be a few spirits wandering round there trying to scare us.

This may have been very very different though if we had been camping on ancient Red Indian burial grounds..

local newsagent had this during the night, owners used to get the right hump & shout at the poltergeist to leave the stock alone

my dad did a couple of exorcisms on some new houses down the road in the late 70's - 13 skeletons from the 4th century had been unearthed during the build

back in my student days I woke up with an eerie feeling to the sound of someone walking towards my bedroom door & rocking the floorboard just outside the door - when I got up in the morning discovered that the only floor board that creaked was just inside my bedroom

quite happy to accept that ghosts do exist & if the OP has a warm feeling about the house then all well & good - hope you manage to keep it/them happy 😉

If you are thinking that you may have ghosts in your house, tonight watch Paranormal Activity. It will put your mind to rest and you will definitely be assured a good nights sleep.

I'm pretty sure our garden is haunted. Late at night, our front gate often rattles all by itself, even if there's no wind. Plant pots are often knocked over. Disturbingly, we occasionally find the mutilated bodies of small animals left near the house.

Worst of all, the ghost also shits in the middle of the lawn. Bastard.

I was thinking that, does that mean that if you're roughing up the suspect one evening when the wife and kids are out there's an as yet unknown watcher on the other plane? That would be really embarrassing especially if your porn is a little specialised. Imagine that after you're dead getting abuse for all the handshandy's you've had.

Any ideas?

Assuming the building is built properly ... then assume other things ...

Nothing you can do if you don't know how to but just keep a close observation on your kids' behaviour or health or the adults in the house.

Checked out the history of the house then find out what it was previously or who passed away there or what the land was used for previously.

If you have death from the result of murder, suicide or fault play whatever they may be then you might have a rather aggressive "being(s)" in your house. You will know they are aggressive when they let you see them or appeared in your dream to ask you to go, that's when you have to decide either to stay and fight or to go.

If they died of natural death or you are on a burial grounds then you may need to move them on. You may need to consult the "experts" whoever they are available.

Essentially what you have is the "energy memory of the past" (make more scientific for the positivists) is attaching to the place or location refusing to go or in confusion ... so moving them on require experts guidance from your religion, shaman, priest etc whatever you have that can communicate with the after world or world beyond us ...

There are plenty of ghosts/spirits around us but they are of no concerns until they make their present felt.

As for the scientifically minded ... 😆
Since you are that clever then do you think there are aliens in the nearby galaxies? HHhmmm ... ? Don't no? Hmmm ... Yes? No? (Stewie Griffins tones toward Brian Griffins)

😯

Wood's like this weird stuff that used to be living ...

Maybe it's the ghost of the tree the door was made from? Cut down in the prime of life well before it's time, so sad...

Assuming the building is built properly ...

it isn't.

...originally built in 1810...

now, i'm not suggesting that an old house is necessarily 'bad', but...

there won't be a right-angle anywhere, nor will anything (that you might expect) be vertical/horizontal.

everything will have been built to 'eye' (an eye belonging to someone working in a hurry, getting paid in beer, using materials supplied in a similar fashion.

Some do some don't while other don't even give a toss about you, after all there is nothing special about you that can impact on them apart from you living in another dimension?

Nope, you are not special which for them may be considered to be a waste of time.

In that case the logical answer is to fix the building first without making other assumptions ... 🙄

the logical answer is to stop worrying about the noises made by an old house at night.

It's an opportunity; tell the kids the house is haunted, get them to listen out for it, then start to add your own flourishes...

But do be worried if your 2004 Wimpy 3 bed on a cul-de-sac in Tring makes noises in the night.

Not a good technique to scare the kids as I have tried it too many times with my friends, cousins (when they were kids), niece and nephew ... this technique may backfire if not done properly as you will turn them into a more timid person. 😯
