Had a thought tonight about IF Spain reach the world cup final I quite fancy watching it in Spain.
I was thinking of going out on Saturday & coming back on the following monday.
Can any frequent travellers recommend the easiest cheapest way of getting there, can either by ferry from Plymouth or flying from somewhere in the south west...
was thinking of doing the same if Brazil reach the final, even though SA is closer than Rio
If you can bear flying Ryanair, I believe they go to Girona from Bristol. Girona has lots of bars/restaurants, or it's just one hour on the bus to Barcelona. Vamos Espana!
if i flew into girona i would stay there rather than going to barca = it's loads better
In Fiengirola(Malaga way) at the moment and have watched the footie with the locals and its pretty intense stuff pretty sure it will be mental when they win!
Car horns are pissing me off though at 2 in the morning!
I'm hoping for a Brazil - Argentina final.
Here's a hint - if you are in a crowd of a few hundred supporters, and the other team scores, and even though you are supporting their team, dont throw your hands up in the air and shout 'oh no!'. Many could think that you are actually cheering the other team and it can get a bit hairy! 😯
Also, forget Vuzuvas or car horns - Brazilians specialise in setting off uber-loud bangers IN the crowd!
But yeah - I am sure being in Spain will be top if they get through to the final.
The finals that we should be hoping for are Brazil v Argentina, or Germany v Holland
I would avoid Cataluña - they'll be going mental for the final but I can guarantee you'll have a better time in Madrid. Seville or any major town in Andalucia would be insane as well I reckon. I suggest these because the people there are a lot more patriotic than some of the other autnomous communities.
I lived in madrid for a while and was there for the Champs League final in 2002 when Real won it with that Zidane volley... amazing!
I watched Spain win Euro 2008 (in Spain), the atmosphere was great. Fireworks in the street, people dancing and everyone was very, very happy. Just jump on the Easybus to Alicante, should be pretty cheap and easy?
easyjet do Bristol to Madrid (or they did)
www.momondo.com is a good site to find cheap flights into Spain.
